Technology Through the Years 3000 BC Abacus 1600s Calculators were used in classrooms. 1800s Punched Card devices were invented. 1940s Joesph Jacquard created a programmable machine that used punched cards. 3. 1940s through 1956 1943 Vacuum tubes were used andpunch cards stored information. 1950s Mainframe Computers were used to train pilots.1956- IBM RAMAC Computer Second Generation used transistors, stored up to 32K of information, and used FORTRANand COBOL as computer language. 4. 1960s through 1990s 1960- Minicomputers were introduced. 1970 - Microsomputers1971- Intel invented microprocessor chips. 1980 IBM first PC. Apple II, Commodore PET, Radio Shack TRS 80 computers were adopted by schools.1990s Tim Berners-Lee developed HTML andWorld Wide Web (WWW). 5. 1990s through 1990 - 1990s- Marc Andreessen developedMosaic software to read HTML. He also founded Netscape.1990s Creation of the Internet. 6.
