Michael Jacksons ‘The Thriller’ was produced, the first one of its kind, audiences loved it and it is said to be the most Impressive music video.
The first music video awards show was shown on MTV. Madonna performed ‘Like a Virgin’.
Hip Hop sees a significant growth after MTV releases the TV show ‘Yo! MTV Raps’ .
Public Enemy releases ‘Night of the living baseheads’ which represents music videos as a form of culture.
The introduction of formatting music videos onto DVD brings the growth up 33% in the interest in music videos.
The ITunes store opens allowing viewing and downloading music videos, after only 20 days, 1 million songs were downloaded.
The launch of YouTube saw increasing success of music videos.
Lady Gaga music videos views reached 1 billion, with her hit ‘poker face’ 357 million views alone.
The number of videos viewed in the month of may was 34 billion.
