The first ever horror

The first ever horror film was called The Haunted Castle in 1896 by George Melies silent film. This film although was only about 3 minutes long it gave and effective overview of what it the horror films looks like 100 years ago. Nowadays in 2015 this film is laughable because we grew up over the years experiencing hardcore scare and gore. Our new generation horror films give nightmares and this film from the 1896 only seems like a comedy now, back then this little film scared many people and giving them nightmares.

Horror genre

Horror is a film genre which first started from being just authors such as Bram Stoker, Allan Poe and Mary Shelley. The horror films have been seen by people over a century now

Frankenstein (1910)

Frankenstein was made in 1910 it was the second horror based film ever made. It was filmed within three days and the duration of it was only sixteen minutes. It was written and directed by J. Searle Dawley.

The Cabinet of Dr.Calibari

This film got extremely popular in 1920 when it was made due to the storyline and the cast. Even up to this date The cabinet of Dr. Calibari got a great rating of 8.8 on IMDB and 100% rotten tomatoes.

Horror nowadays is one of the most popular genre due to the constant change and scary storylines.Modern films nowadays are based mostly on families, spirits or murder/killings. Some of the new modern films are called ‘’The Conjuring’’, ‘’Insidious’’, ‘’Paranormal Activity’’. Modern horror films get into family now as most of them are all about children being haunted or murdered.
