Aswartha Reddy, Sareddy : b. December 20, 1911, at Agadur,

Pulivendla Taluk ; s. of Somi Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Took part in the

Individual Satyagraha Movement ; Suffered six months’ R.I. from 18-2-1941

in the Alipuram Camp Jail and also paid a fine of Rs. 50/- ; Again

participated in the Quit India Movement and was imprisoned for one and

half years from 31-10-1942 in the Alipuram Camp Jail ; Worked for the

removal of untouchability and Harijan upliftment ; Died.

Balanarayana Reddy, K. : Resident of Proddatur ; s. of

Chenchu Reddy ; B.A., B.L.; Advocate ; Took part in the 1921 and 1930

Movements and suffered six months’ imprisonment; Again took part in the

Individual Satyagraha Movement ; Suffered five months’ R.I. from 17-3-1941

in the Vellore, Bellary and Alipuram Jails; Also paid a fine of Rs.100/-;

Detained under the D.I.R. from 9-12-1942 to 7-12-1944 in the Vellore and

Thanjavur Jails in connection with the Quit India Movement ; Senate

Member, Andhra University ; Secretary, Land Mortgage Bank, Proddatur ;

Member, Cuddapah D.C.C.; Was M.L.A.

Balarama Reddy, A. : Resident of Cuddapah District ;

Participated in the 1942 Quit India Movement ; Suffered imprisonment in

Balasura Reddy, Ketu : b. 1895 ; Resident of Rangasayapuram,

Proddatur Taluk ; s. of Chinna Sura Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Raised anti war

slogans ; sentenced on 28-2-1941 to undergo four months’ R.I. and to pay a

fine of Rs. 50/-; The fine was remitted ; Confined in the Vellore Central Jail ;

Died on July 20, 1942.

Bala Venkata Subbarayudu, B. : Resident of Peddapasupula,

Jammalamadugu Taluk ; s. of Venkata Seshayya ; Agriculturist ; Offered

Individual Satyagraha ; Sentenced on 15-1-1941 to four months’ R.I. and to

pay a fine of Rs. 100/-, in default, further one month R.I. ; Confined for five

months in the Vellore Central Jail.

Balavira Reddy, Alavalapati : Resident of Agadur, Pulivendla

Taluk ; s. of Venkata Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Took part in the Quit India

Movement ; Suffered one year R.I. from 19-10-1942 in the Alipuram Camp

Jail ; Soon after the expiry of the above sentence, was detailed under the

D.I.R. from 5-9-1943 to 13-3-1944 in the Vellore and Thanjavur Jails.

Balayella Reddy, Pedaballe : b. March 15, 1925, at Chennur,

Cuddapah Taluk; s. of Yella Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Joined the Political

School at his village in 1940 ; Arrested during the 1942 Quit India

Movement is connection with the destruction of the Chennur Crossway.

Taluk; s. of Peda Pulla Reddy ; Agriculturist; Participated in the Individual

Satya graham Movement; suffered four months’ R.I. from 8-1-1941 in the

Vellore Central Jail; Detained again during the Quit India Movement from

11-12-1942 to 5-4-1944 in the Vellore and Thanjavur Jails.

Bali Reddy, Kristapati : Resident of Jangamreddipalle,

Pulivendla Taluk ; s. of Rami Reddy ; Native Doctor ; Took part in the

Individual Satyagraha Movement and suffered two months’ R.I. from 14-3-

1941 in the Vellore Central Jail ; Again participated in the Quit India

Movement and was imprisoned for eighteen months from 22-9-1942 in the

Alipuram Camp Jail.

Basi Reddy, P. : Resident of Chintharamapalli, Pulivendla

Taluk ; s. of Narayana ; Agriculturist ; Offered Individual Satyagraha ;

Sentenced on 12-3-1941 to undergo two months’ R.I. and to pay a fine of

Rs.50/-, in default, to suffer another term of R.I. for two months ; The fine

was remitted ; Imprisoned in the Vellore Central Jail.

Bommi Reddy, Gopavaram : b. September 3, 1903, at

Gopavaram, Badvel Taluk ; s. of Vira Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Took part in the

1942 Quit India Movement ; Worked for Harijan upliftment and removal of

untouchability.

Chandrasekhara Reddy, T. : Resident of Mahdevpalle,

Rayachoti Taluk ; s. of Nagi Reddy ; Took part in the Quit India Movement at

the age of 18 and underwent eighteen months’ R.I. from 30-3-1943 in the

Alipuram Camp Jail.

weeks’ R.I.; The fine was remitted ; Confined in the Alipuram Camp Jail.

Changal Raju, Dasaraju : b. July 12, 1923 ; Resident of

Venkatapatiraju Kandrika, Rajampet Taluk ; s. of Changal Raju ;

Agriculturist ; Participated in the Individual Satyagraha Movement ;

Sentenced on 24-2-1941 to four months’ R.I. with a fine of Rs. 25/-, in

default, further one month R.I.; The fine was remitted ; Interned in the

Alipuram Camp Jail.

Changal Raju, Keertipati : Resident of Urlagattupadu,

Rajampet Taluk ; s. of Siddi Raju ; Agriculturist ; Suffered four months’ R.I.

from 29-8-1930 in the Vellore and Calicut Jails due to his participation in

the Civil Disobedience Movement.

Changal Raju, Konduru : b. September 10, 1916, at

Urlagattupadu, Rajampet Taluk ; s. of Siddi Raju ; Agriculturist ; Took part

in the Forest Satyagraha and was sentenced on 29-8-1930 to four months’

R.I.; Interned in the Vellore Central Jail.

Channappa, Ulasala : B. January 1, 1900, at Venkatapuram,

Kamalapuram Taluk ; s. of Chinna Rangayya ; Weaver ; Took part in the

Quit India Movement ; Suffered six months’ R.I. from 4-12-1942 in the

Alipuram Camp Jail.

Subbramayya ; Businessman; Sentenced on 8-1-1941 to eight months’ R.I.

under the D.I.R. for shouting anti-war slogans ; Confined in the Vellore and

Alipuram Jails.

Chenchuramaraju, Dasaraju : b. 1892 at Urlagattupadu,

Rajampet Taluk ; s. of Narasa Raju ; Agriculturist ; Sentenced on 21-1-1941

to undergo nine months’ R.I. for raising anti-war slogans ; Imprisoned in the

Vellore and ALipuram Jails ; Died in 1960.

Chinna Gurumurthy, Draksha : b. January 3, 1914, at

Cuddapah ; s. of Gurumurthy ; Agriculturist ; Started a printing press in

1942 ; Printed proscribed literature and distributed it among the people ;

His house and the press were raided in November, 1943 and he was

arrested ; Convicted under the D.I.R. and sentenced on 31-1-1944 to two

years’ R.I.; Prison term was served in the Vellore and Alipuram Jails.

Chinna Narapa Reddy, Katigari : b. May 5, 1910, at

Korrapadu, Proddatur Taluk; s. of Pedda Narapa Reddy ; Agriculturist ;

Offered Individual Satyagraha and imprisoned for six months from 3-2-1941

in the Alipuram Camp Jail ; Also a fine of Rs. 100/- was levied ; was a

Member of the D.C.C.

Chinna Obula Reddy, Sareddy : b. October 15, 1926 ; Resident

of Agadur, Pulivendla Taluk ; s. of Chinna Obula Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Took

part in the Quit India Movement while he was very young; Sentenced on 19-

10-1942 to two years’ imprisonment ; Interned in the Minor Jail,

Chingleput.

Eswara Reddy, Y. : b. November 11, 1915, at Peddapasupula,

Jammalamadugu Taluk ; s. of Chinna Venkata Subba Reddy ; Took up

public service after graduation ; Worked in the Congress Party, 1936-41 ;

Served as Member, D.C.C.; Led the Individual Satyagraha Movement in

1941 in his Taluk and organized the first District Kisan Conference at

Paluru ; Offered Individual Satyagraha at Chennuru ; Sentenced on 28-5-

1941 to three months’ S.I. and a fine of Rs. 100/-, in default, to undergo

further one month S.I. ; Did not pay the fine ; Served the term of

imprisonment in the Vellore and Alipuram Jails ; After release from Jail,

worked as Sympathiser of the Communist Party of India and finally took its

Membership in May 1945 ; Member, Lok Sabha , 1952-57 ; Member, Andhra

Pradesh Legislative Council, 1958-62 ; Again elected to the Lok Sabha

during the 1962, 1967 and 1971 elections from the Cuddapah

constitutency.

Gandenna, Bandaru alias Gandrayudu : b. about 1922 ;

Resident of Urutur, Kamalapuram Taluk ; s. of Pedda Narayana ;

Businessman ; Took part in the Quit India Movement and was convicted

under the D.I.R. ; Sentenced on 4-12-1942 to nine months’ R.I. and interned

in the Alipuram Camp Jail ; Soon after expiry of the above sentence, was

detained upto 16-12-1943 at Vellore and Thanjavur Jails ; Once again

convicted under the D.I.R.; Jailed for six months from 27-3-1944 at

Alipuram Camp Jail.

Ganga Raju, Chamarti : Resident of Venkatareddy Rachapalli,

Rajampet Taluk ; s. of Venkata Raju ; Agriculturist ; Suffered R.I. from 29-8-

1930 to 6-10-1930 in the Vellore Central Jail and also paid a fine of Rs.75/-

in connection with the Civil Disobedience Movement.

Gangi Reddy, Lakku : b. about 1914 ; Resident of

Nagireddipalli, Cuddapah Taluk ; Agriculturist ; Offered Satyagraha during

the 1932 Civil Disobedience Movement but was not arrested ; Arrested

during the 1942 Quit India Movement and was remanded for fifteen days ;

Taluk Congress President for a number of years.

Gangi Reddy, N.P. : Resident of Kothagangareddipalli ; s. of

Muni Reddy ; While a student, participated in the Quit India Movement and

underwent R.I. from 23-9-1942 to 18-11-1942 in the Alipuram Camp Jail.

Gangi Reddy, Nallaballe : b. May 20, 1922, at

Kovaramguttapalle, Pulivendla Taluk ; s. of Narasayya ; Teacher ; Passed

Hindi Rashtra Bhasha Visarada and Pracharak ; Actively associated with the

Quit India Movement and underwent three years’ R.I. from 12-12-1942 in

the Alipuram Camp Jail.

Gangisetty, Kpparapu : b. 1914 ; Resident of Venkatapuram,

Kamalapuram Taluk ; s. of Venkata Setty ; Businessman ; Offered

Satyagraha in 1941 but was not arrested ; Associated with the Quit India

Movement and was remanded for 40 days in the Cuddapah Sub-Jail ;

Awarded nine months’ R.I. on 4-12-1942 and served the period in the

Alipuram Camp Jail ; Soon after the expiry of the sentence, was detained

Movement ; Suffered two months’ R.I. from 26-2-1941 in the Vellore Central

Jail.

Jayarami Reddy, Rajoli : Resident of Penikalapadu,

Jammalamadugu Taluk ; s. of Muni Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Participated in

the Quit India Movement ; Sentenced on 20-12-1943 to undergo R.I. for two

years and to pay a fine of Rs.400/-, in default, to suffer further four months’

R.I. ; The fine was not paid ; Incarcerated in the Alipuram Camp Jail ; Died.

Kesava Varma, D. : Resident of Proddatur ; s. of Chinna

Chennappa ; Weaver ; Raised anti-war slogans ; Sentenced on 27-2-1941 to

undergo three months’ R.I. with a fine of Rs.50/-; The fine was rendered ;

Imprisoned in the Vellore Central Jail.

Konda Reddy, R.B. : Resident of Pydipalem, Pulivendla Taluk ;

s. of Bayappa Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Offered Individual Satyagraha ; a fine of

Rs. 500/- was collected ; Suffered four months’ R.I. from 20-3-1941 in the

Vellore, Bellary and Alipuram Jails.

Konda Reddy, Y.B. : b. 1900 at Peddajutur, Pulivendla Taluk ;

s. of Peddabusi Reddy ; Agriculturist ; Participated in the 1940-41 Individual

Satyagraha Movement and suffered imprisonment ; During the Quit India

Movement, was severely lathi-charged and awarded one year R.I. with a fine

of Rs.60/- on 12-12-1942 ; The fine was rendered ; Served the

imprisonment in the Alipuram Camp Jail ; Soon after expiry of the sentence,

was detained upto 29-6-1945 in the Cannanore, Thanjavur and Vellore Jails

; His property worth about Rs. 6,000/- was auctioned during the freedom

struggle ; Secretary, D.C.C. ; Member, A.I.C.C.

Madanapalle Taluk, Chittoor District ; Resident of Cuddapah ; s. of Sidda

Reddy ; B.A. (Madras), L.L.B. (London), B.C.L. (Oxon), Bar-at-Law (Middle

Temple) ; Advocate and Agriculturist ; Accompanied Gandhiji during his

Rayalaseema tour in 1919-20 ; Took part in the Individual Satya graham

Movement and was imprisoned for eight months from 7-12-1940 in the

Vellore and Tiruchirapalli Jails; Again was detained during the Quit India

Movement from 10-8-1942 at Vellore and Amaravati Jails ; Released after

his father’s death in December 1943 ; Was President of the Andhra

Mahasabha ; Minister for Endowments and Excise, 1946-47 in the

composite Madras State and Revenue Minister, 1953-54 in the Andhra

Province ; Member, Legislative Assembly till 1962 ; Nominated to the Andhra

Pradesh Legislative Council in 1964 and continued as such till 30-6-1970.

Kondayya, Nukala : Resident of Peddapasupula,

Jammalamadugu Taluk ; s. of Subbayya ; Businessman ; Sentenced on 9-1-

1941 to four months’ R.I. under the D.I.R. for raising anti-war slogans ;

Imprisoned in the Vellore Central Jail.

Krishnamurthy, Bhupathi : Resident of Mydukur, Proddatur

Taluk : s. of Srinivasa Chetty ; Agriculturist ; Offered Individual Satyagraha ;

Sentenced on 10-1-1941 to six months’ R.I. ; Interned in the Vellore and

Alipuram Jails ; Again took part in the Quit India Movement and suffered

one year R.I. from 17-12-1942 in the Alipuram Camp Jail.

at Kampasamudram, Rajampet Taluk ; s. of Prasannacharyulu ;

Agriculturist ; Studied S.S.L.C. ; Raised anti-war slogans during the

Individual Satyagraha Movement ; Awarded on 19-3-1941 a fine of Rs.200/-,

in default, to suffer R.I. for six months ; Confined in the Alipuram Camp Jail

; Released on 15-5-1941 on payment of the fine ; Worked for the spread of

Khadi and Prohibition.

the Vellore and Cuddalore Jails ; Also participated in the 1942 Quit India

Movement and detained for 15 days in the Cuddapah Sub-Jail ; Secretary,

D.C.C., 1935 and also its President for some time; Member, A.I.C.C. till

1935 ; Died on September 1, 1951.

Virabhadra Rao, Gajulapalli : Resident of Anavaripalli ; s. of

Virayya ; Underwnet one year S.I. from 14-10-1921 in the Vellore and

Cuddalore Jails during the Non-Cooperation Movement ; Died.
