Welcome

Withahistoryasrichasthedetailsthatwentintotherestorationoftheproperty,farmfresh,sustainablecuisineandawarmcomfortableatmosphere,HotelDuVillagehasbecomethepremiereeventspaceandboutiquehotelintheBucksCountyArea.

17thCenturyTheareasurroundingandincludingHotelduVillagewas

partofalargetractoflandgrantedtotheElyfamily,anotableBucksCountyFamilyamongtheearliestsettlersofBucksCountyinthe1600’s.ThislandwasgivenbyWilliamPenn,anEnglishrealestateentrepreneur,philosopher,earlyQuakerandfounderoftheProvinceofPennsylvaniaintheseventeenthcentury.

In1895Dr.GeorgeMorleyMarshallofOhioboughtaparcelofthePennGrantfromElydescendantstoestablishacountryresidenceforhisfamilyinBucksCounty.Dr.Marshalls’sister,CarolineWood,chosethesiteofourpresenteventspacesasaprimelocationforacountryestate,andattheturnofthecenturyshebegantheconstructionofWhiteOaks,closetoherbrother’shomeacrossPhillipsMillRoad.

MorganColtwasthearchitectforthebuilding,andthenameinspirationforourLargeDiningRoom:TheColtBallroom.KarlineHolmquistfoundedtheHolmquistSchoolforGirlsin1917inaconvertedbarn.Thesuccessofherschoolrequiredexpansion,sosheacquiredWhiteOaksandadjacentAppledore(ourcurrenthotel),aconvertedstable,fromMrs.Woodin1925.



Therestaurantwhichisnowour‘Historic’ballroom,thesmallerofthetwoBanquetSpaces,isinWhiteOaks,formerlythesettingfortheacademicandsocialpreparationofyoungladies.In1925SoleburySchoolwasfoundedasapreparatoryschoolforboysatthepresent“UpperCampus”onPhillipsMillRoad.Thetwoschoolsmergedin1949withWhiteOaks,AppledoreandStoneCottageonRiverRoadconstitutingthe“LowerCampus.”Muchoftheoriginalwoodworkhasbeenrestoredandincorporatedintoitsrenovateddesign;theoldRestaurantFlooringhasbeenrestoredintothehighchapelceilingsoftheHistoricBallroom’sPrefunctionSpace&BarArea.

SoleburySchoolmaintainedthetwocampusesuntil1976,whenOmarandBarbaraArbanipurchasedthe“LowerCampus.”LodgingbecameavailableinAppledoreduringthesummerof1978.Sincethelate70′suntil2012,HotelDuVillagewasownedandoperatedbytheArbanifamily.

FrankandJeanneCretellaofLandmarkHospitalityhadspentsummersstayingatHotelduVillagewiththeirfamilyandhadalwaysdreamedofowningpropertyasspecialasthis.Theirdaughterevenlearnedtorideherbikeupanddownthelongdriveway!In2013,theirdreamwasrealizedastheypurchasedthisbeautifulhistoricsiteinordertomakeitapremieredestinationforevents,weddingsandout-of-townguests.Frank&Jeannehopeyouenjoyyourstayasmuchastheydid!
