 – Detect changes in blood NaCl, send paracrine signal to

cells of the afferent (sometimes efferent) arterioles.

 – Secrete Renin (aspartyl peptidase), which cleavesangiotensinogen to Angiotensin I.

 – The net result is decreased Na+ excretion and increased

blood pressure.
