H is Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin, Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, is the current head of the Sakya lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and is one of the most important and highly regarded Tibetan Buddhist Masters alive today, second only to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. According to Buddhism, if good deeds, merit and lifespan are coherent, then one can enjoy a happy, healthy and long life. Otherwise, one’s life can come to an abrupt end in tragedy and violent death. So Buddhists try to live a non-violent life, practice kindness and receive long life empowerment. People will travel far to receive Amitayus Long Life empowerment especially if it is bestowed by a lineage master. Often people will do anything if they can assist someone to heal their illnesses and become well. People who receive this empowerment and Healing Medicine Buddha Mantra can incorporate the practice of Healing Buddha to boost the effectiveness of their skill and usefulness as a service to their patients. Also patients can use the mantra to help them cope better with pain and difficulties in a very holistic manner. But without wisdom to incorporate knowledge with a kind heart, mere technical knowledge cannot necessarily help except to make a living in the mundane world. Today a high percentage of educated people who have well paid jobs in the first world suffer from depression, stress and anxiety. This shows that knowledge without wisdom and compassion can impede the very well being of the person. In Tibetan Buddhism, receiving an empowerment of Bodhisattva Manjushri is a must to bless one’s heart and head so that both knowledge and good heart are developed. The Head of the Sakya Lineage is believed to be an emanation of Manjushri. So to receive the empowerment from its Head is a rare opportunity. $35/$25 members & concession 2.00pm - 5.30pm Parting from the Four Attachments: Sacred Teachings Manjushri gave to Sachen Kunga Nyingpo Young 12 year old Sachen Kunga Nyingpo was doing a six month meditation retreat. It is during that time, that the young boy saw Manjushri in his meditation who urged him to give up the four attachments. The famous four line instruction from Manjushri became a fundamental teachings that attracted a number of commentaries on the four attachments and teaching ways to overcome them. This life, this world, self and opinions are the four attachments that one should learn to sever, for without doing so one is neither a spiritual person, nor has renunciation, nor is endowed with altruism and nor realises the right view to see the truth. This teaching captures the essence of Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist teachings. It is a fundamental teaching recommended for all. $70/$50 members & concession
