Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to announce that the 1st Alma Mons CME Course Surgery of

Metabolic Syndrome and Weight Loss will be held in Institute for Lung Disease,

Clinic for Thoracic Surgery, Sremska Kamenica, near Novi Sad, capital of

Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Republic Serbia, on October 17th - 19th, 2013.

The program will provide a unique opportunity to gain access to the latest

and best scientific information and education in field of Metabolic Syndrome

and Bariatric Surgery. We have invited internationally renowned experts from

Turkey, Romania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia to cover the

topics form surgical, endocrinological, gastroenterological, pulmological and

anestesiological point of view.

We expect that the program will attract many surgeons, endocrinologist,

gastroenterologists and general practioners from south-eastern European

countries and that the meeting will present an important baseline for regional

exchange of new ideas.

Course is structured around relevant clinical practice topics with idea to focus

on the multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of patients with metabolic

syndrome and obesity, the raising medical and social problem all around the

world, as well as in our region.

We look forward to seeing you in Sremska Kamenca, Novi Sad and on behalf

Alma Mons is the ancient, Latin name for Fruka Gora and it means fruitful hill. Fruka Gora is an important sacral center, famous for its vivid, old monastreies of the Serbian Orthodox Church (there are 17 monasteries), which were built in the period from 15th to 18th century. They are famous for their specific architecture, wealthy treasuries, libraries and frescoes, therefore is this mountain also called the holy mountain. Monasteries on Fruka Gora are under the protection of UNESCO.
