Osteoarthitis
• A degenerative process that affects both the capsule and the articulator cartilage

Presentation
• History – 55 year old male with onset of osteoarthritis dating back eight years
![Page 4: Hip Lecture](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022083000/556c7f8ad8b42ac71e8b4d7b/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Presentation
• Clinical Finding– Restricted hip range of motion.
•Main restriction was limitation of flexion , abduction and medial rotation.
•Capsular pattern - ref: Cyraix, & Magee

Presentation
• Soft Tissue Dysfunction:– Weakness in the gluteus maximus, medius, minimus.
– Restriction within the pirformis, It Band and Hip adductors

Therapy Goals
• Restore hip joint range of motion
• Improve hip soft tissue flexibility
• Strengthen muscles around the hip region.
![Page 7: Hip Lecture](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022083000/556c7f8ad8b42ac71e8b4d7b/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Treatment Methods
• Joint mobilization • Soft tissue stretching • Exercises
![Page 8: Hip Lecture](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022083000/556c7f8ad8b42ac71e8b4d7b/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Selection of Techniques
• Traction ( inferior glide)• Lateral traction• Anterior glide• Posterior glide
![Page 9: Hip Lecture](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022083000/556c7f8ad8b42ac71e8b4d7b/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Inferior Glide at 90 Degrees of Hip Flexion• Used to increased hip flexion
• Avoids hamstring tightness
• More direct force at the hip.

Anterior Hip Glide
• Used to increase hip extension and external rotation.

Posterior Glide of Hip
• Used to increase hip flexion and internal rotation.
