the necessary agreement under the Corporate See.l of the Council for the acceptance of
Ur . Greenwood's tender for the concreting of the carriagevJ:?.Y of Burren street, seconded by
Aldermc:.n Roberts and carried .
The Overseer of Works Submitte d his report of works completed or in progress during the
past fortnig-ht which was received .
The Health Inspector submitted his report as contained on folio 158/9 of the _ealth I n spe ct
or's Report Book , and Alderman Dibble moved that the Health Inspector's Report be received an~
the applications mentioned in parac raph two granted, seconded by Alderi!lc."!ll Turtle and carried .
QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE .
Under this heading Alderman Solomon asked that as much employment as possible be Fiven during
the next few 1eeks, in view of the approach of the Xmas Season . The Jlf yor intimated that

His Worship the Hayor intimated that the ~eeting had been called under the Erovisions of
the Local Government .\ct, and Ordinance ~made thereunder, r a l ating to t l e election of "ayo:;
for the ensu.inB term .
A. To detlhrmine whether or not the Council will grant an allowance for the JP.;ror for the ensuing term.
B. If it is determined to Brant an allowance to fix the amotmt .
C. To elect a Ha~ror for the period. beginning 13th December, 1927 .
Alderman Morgan moved that this Cotmcil grant an allowance for the ersuing term, seconded
by Alderman Szarka and carried .
Alderman Horgan moved that tLe allowance for the ensuing term be the sum of £100, seconded
by _(lderman TtiTtle .
_An amendment was moved by Alderman Solomon that the allowance for the ensuine term be the
sum of £150 , seconded by ~lderman Roberts and lost .

His WorshiP the r~ayor then invited nominations for the position of Hayor for the ensuing
term .
Alderman Morgan nominated Alderman Delve .
Alderman Ryan nominat ed Alderman Pawley .
There being no fUrther nominations, His Worship the 11ayor declared the nominations closed.
The Town Clerk as returning officer then conducte·d the ballot and prepare d ballot papers .
The ballot resulted as follows :-
Alderman Delve 7 Votes.
Alderman Pawley 5 Votes .
The Town Clerk as return ing of~icer then declared Alderman Will iam Henry Delve J .P . duly
elected :;f -. yor of the Hunici:pali ty r, f Newtovm for the ensuing term.
The retiring Eayor (Alderman ·r . L . Smith J . P .) inducted the newly elected Hayor to the
_fayoral chair·, and congratulated Alderman Delve on his election .
The newly elected ~illyor havine received the congDatulations of his brother Aldermen, return
ed thanks and concluded by wishing one and all a Herry Xmas and a Happy New Year •
. lderman Euzacott drew attent.ion that the next meeting of the Council would fall on
Boxing Da7 , a public holiday, and as it was usual £or the Council to adjourn over the
~olidays , to eive the members an opportunity of leaving home during the holi day season, it
was unanimously agreed that t e next meeting of the Cotcncil would be h~ld on Tuesday,
