As a social change entrepreneur, I have devoted much of my life's

work to sustainable foods, farming, alternative health, and ethical

business models . My passion has taken me to some of the world's

most remote and deeply cultured regions - creating bamboo micro­

industries in rural Africa, replacing coca crops with organic cotton

in the jungles of Peru and introducing heirloom soybean seed to

organic farmers in the US.

Working with indigenous people, I was deeply inspired by their wealth of ancient knowledge, biodiversity and traditional heirloom foods, and firmly believe them to be

key to our collective future. I also witnessed the effects of adopting a "modern" refmea

diet in these communities and how it has eroded their health, natura

and the rjch biodiverse regions they inhabit.

It became clear to me that -- as the third world seeks balance for survival, the

first world seeks balance for meaning. My desire is to create a means for

nourishing both.
