The above arrangements are also dependent on funding of programs and the department of Education and Communities staffing. Parents who have any requests in relation to their child for 2013 are asked to ring and make an appointment with me before classes are formed. Please do so as soon as possible. SCHOOL ATTENDANCE It is a very busy time of year with end of year preparations well under way. Teachers and students are busy in classrooms with assessment tasks. It is most important that your child attends school every day and that they arrive on time as this is often the time frame when teachers are working on assessments for their reports. Thank you for your support! HATS HATS HATS Hats are to be worn if children are exposed to the sun. Children not wearing hats, play in the shade under the COLA. Hats cost $12.00 and can be purchased from the canteen. WATER Water is the best drink a child can have. At Hillvue students are allowed to take water into their classrooms to drink. The amount of fluid that children need varies between individual children. The older the child, the more fluid they need. Children should drink approximately 1–11⁄2 litres of fluid a day. Children will need more when they are physically active and on hot and humid days. Water is the best drink – for both children and adults – in all situations. HOLIDAY PLANNING Holiday camps are a great way for kids—7-12 years or 13 and over—to have an adventure and make new friends in a supervised environment. Packages include accommodation, activities and meals. Bookings are now open at camps across NSW. Find out more: http://www.dsr.nsw.gov.au/kidscamps/ WELCOME Welcome to Stephanie Chalmers and Maddy Renshaw from the University of Technology Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Have a great week! PETER PAN PRESCHOOL (a non-profit organisation—all money is spent on the centre) Is your child missing out on learning important skills for school? Don’t let them struggle in kindergarten. We have vacancies for children 3 to 6 years. Come and visit to see what we do. Prices are $14 to $27 a day depending on income. Our staff are highly trained, very experienced, caring people. We have a huge outdoor area, lots of great equipment and provide individualised programs for children based on the Early Years Learning Framework. Phone 67659124 for more information for an appointment.

HEADLICE We are asking that all parents examine their child’s hair for signs of infestation. The lice themselves are often hard to find because they move around on the head. Therefore, you should be looking for eggs or nits. If your child has contracted head lice do not be alarmed. Although the condition in unpleasant, it is easily treated with a specialised treatment available from the chemist. As head lice are highly contagious it is suggested that you examine all family members and treat if necessary.
