DELI MAN FILM AND LUNCH Adult Education is sponsoring a deli lunch at the Temple, followed by a screening of a very entertaining documentary film called "Deli Man" Sunday January 17, 1:00pm

Admission charge $6 includes lunch and film

Deli Man focuses on a deli owner who is the grandson of the original owner of the first kosher deli on Broadway in New York City in the 1920s. It explores the broader histories and cultural aspects of famous Jewish delis in Manhattan, Queens, Los An-geles, and San Francisco. Deli owners and luminaries alike (featuring Larry King, Jerry Stiller, and Alan Dershowitz) express their love for the culture and food while lamenting its gradual demise. Reservations to Lori in the Temple Office would be appreciated in order to get an idea of how much deli to prepare!!

Sh’mot - Exodus 1:1-6:1 —As we study the first week’s reading from the book of Exodus, we find

the children of Israel in slavery. It seems at first that the G-d of their forefathers has forgotten them.

But G-d has not forgotten His promises. He remembers His promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

and brings a Redeemer to their children’s children, for the sake of His name, with love.

Va-eira - Exodus 6:2-9:35 —The portion begins with four expressions of redemption whereby G-d

promises to bring Israel out of the Egyptian bondage. The narrative progresses to tell the story of the

first seven of the ten plagues that G-d unleashed on Egypt.

Bo — Exodus 10:1-13:16 —The portion begins by concluding the narrative of the ten plagues, the

tenth of which is the slaying of the firstborn. To avoid the plague, the Israelites are given the in-

structions for the Passover sacrifice and the laws of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Pharaoh finally

consents to let Israel go, and they leave Egypt.

B’shalach - Exodus 13:17-17:16 —The reading tells the adventures of the Israelites as they leave

Egypt, cross the Red Sea, receive miraculous provision in the wilderness, and face their first battle.

AU G U ST 2016 ISRA EL TR I P

The next TBH mission to Israel will be a crazy fun family experience. Summer in

Israel is hot, but beautiful. From August 8 to August 18, 2016, we will find all of the

amazing spots in Israel to jump in and cool off. This visit will be customized accord-

ing to our participants, and the goal is to offer a 'reasonably' priced trip.

If you have a simcha that you would like to celebrate in Israel, let us know, and we

are happy to make the arrangements. Mindy Glickman is currently finalizing the

itinerary and pricing. Please let her know if you are interested.

conventional wisdom and changing the way we view American politics.

class), the Men’s Club is hosting the Pasta FaShul dinner on January 16, Adult

Education is sponsoring a film and deli lunch on January 17, and the annual
