Marmoreal

Marmoreal is a collection inspired by the unexpected colors, shapes and fluidity of the Marble Caves of Patagonia. The structured arches and graceful curves inside of them create an effortless, yet solid look and feel to the marble. This collection strives to incorporate these elements and to emphasize the contrast between the marble structure and the fluid shapes erosion created. The print used throughout the collection was designed based on the enchanting mineral colors and patterns within the marble walls. Each look has a different color-way to reflect how the marble changes color and appearance depending on the season and the amount of light. Like the caves, each time this collection is viewed new colors, details and elements will emerge, making the experience unique.

Marmoreal Print Development

Marmoreal Prints: Developed and created using Adobe Illustrator to create layers of colors and shapes with brushes. Each look in Marmoreal uses the same print, only with a slightly different colorway to represent the different colors present in the marble caves during different seasons and water levels. Final fabric printed using www.spoonflower.com.

Fold Over Tote Purse: Printed body with leather trim, detachable strap and handles. Gold studs and dog clip accents.

Chain and Bead Fringe Necklace: Multi sizes of chain mixed with navy, orange and grey beads to form the fringe.

Tiered Chain Necklace: Double layered large gauge gold chain with navy, orange and grey beads intertwined. Finished with a natural stone pendant

Long Stone Pendant Neckalce: Long gold chain necklace with navy, orange and grey beads woven through it. Accented with a natural stone pendant.

Double Zip Envelope Clutch: Printed twill and leather form the body. Accented with double gold zippers and fold over snap detail.

Long Dangle Earrings: Two sizes of gold chain mixed with two multi-tone medium beads.

Printed Bib Necklace: Embellished with gold and clear beads over print with a sateen tie strap.

The Aspen Collection

The Aspen Collection is a resort collection that was completed as my Winter 2012 Co-Op. This collection is all about comfort and creating a luxurious feel. The inspiration comes from ski lodges, resorts and resort towns in Aspen Colorado. Colors naturally found in this environment, such as browns, blacks, whites, taupes and pops of teal, were used throughout the collection. Mixing textures was also important so suedes, shearling, jerseys, crepes and quilted details were key. This collection also has an emphasis on creating different silhouettes, outerwear garments and details.

Crop Jacket: Fully-lined taupe quilted suede sleeves, mandarin collar and bodice with black vinyl upper sleeve detail.

Quilted Hem Dress: Black tank jersey dress with elastic waistband, scoop neckline and quilted taupe suede “V” hem detail.

Princess Seamed Dress: White wool princess seamed dress with a scoop neckline, quilted teal suede chest detail and a full gold exposed zipper down the back.

Asymetrical Jacket: Black bottom weight suiting with quilted shoulder, elbow and princess seam details. Asymetrical gold exposed zipper closure.

Pencil Skirt: Self-faced taupe bottom weight twill suiting with quilted black side panel details and a zipper closure in the back.

Seamed Long Sleeve Top: Light brown quilted crepe jersey top and sleeves with white princess seamed jersey bottom.

Suede Fitted Pant: Taupe suede self-faced fitted pant with center front zipper.

Quilted Coat: Fully lined teal suede coat with quilted white wool princess seamed side pannels, cuffed and gathered sleeves and shearling mandarin collar detail.

Leggings: Black jersey leggings with elastic waistband and quilted white wool side pannels down each leg.

Sheer Cowl Dress: Sheer teal draped cowl top with quilted taupe suede waistband and black jersey bottom. Exposed gold zipper closure down the back.

Jersey Drape Cowl Top: White jersey draped cowl with quilted taupe suede upper arm detail.

Wide Leg Pant: Dark brown twill suiting with a quilted self-faced taupe suede waisteband and center front zipper.

Peek-A-Boo Back Dress: White satin top with quilted shoulder and waistband detail and a gathered brown jersey skirt bottom. Back is open with a snap closure.

White Wool Capelet: Quilted and fully lined with a full, exposed zipper gold closure and shearling deatil on inside of collar and arm slits.

Cocktail Dress: Light brown quilted crepe jersey top, cutout and sleeve detail with a dark brown jersey fitted bottom. Slightly gathered back detail in quilted seam.

Cowl-Neck Capelet: Brown brushed back jersey cowl neckline and body with teal quilted suede high-low hemmed bottom.

Fitted Pant: Brown bottom weight suiting twill with quiled teal suede inner-leg pannels and waistband.

Beaded Bib Necklace: Gold, black and brown beads hand-stitchedonto bib base andattached onto layered gold chain.

Layered Fringe Necklace: Two colors & lengths of fringe hand stitched onto gold chain.

Wrap Bracelet: Vinyl and wool base with gold trim and hand beaded details. Double snap closure.

Multiple Chain Bracelet: Two types of gold chain and vinyl braided chain joined with a jump loop and closed with a gold clasp.

Fringe Loop Earrings: Gold and black wire cording on rings with drop earring posts.

Fold Over Purse: Quilted bottom, fully lined, teal vinyl fold over purse with magnetic snap closure and a gold chain strap.

Drawstring Purse: Quilted white vinyl purse with brown vinyl details and braided gold cording strap and drawstring.

Braided Cuff: Jersey backed vinyl base with braided vinyl detail. Double snap closure.

Braided Wrap Bracelet: Two types of gold and gold/white cording braided together. Double snap closure.

Design Concepts & Completed Garments

Desert Sands Knitwear Design

The Desert Sands Knitwear Design mimics the duality of the smooth and rippled sand textures present in desert sand dunes and the way that these two opposite elements exist side by side. Neutral tones were used throughout the look to highlight the contrast between the light and the shadowed elements that inspired this look. Natural Mohair was used as the main yarn and material to construct this look. The final garment was completed using a chunky knitting machine.

Final Garment: A low back, princess seamed and hand rouched textured dress with a batwing sleeve high-low back sweater element that is attached to the dress through the front princess seams. One inch tailored hem trim and finish around all outer edges.

Inspired by the 1940’s Victory Suits, this look is structured and creates interest through seaming and patterns. The jacket was designed to go to just below the waist and use princess seams, plaids and yokes to add visual appeal. The understructure of this jacket is completely tailored by hand and formed to the model’s shape to create a perfect fit.

The second piece of this look was designed to balance out the jacket and update the typical 1940’s Victory Suit skirt bottom. The pants are wide leg with a simple,self-faced waistband so they would compliment the jacket, instead of drawing attention away from it.

Jacket : Matched plaid tailored jacket with a mandarin collar, princess seaming in the front and back and bias plaid yokes in the front and back of the jacket. Fully lined with a pop of a rust orange color and closed with a full separating exposed gold zipper.

Wide Leg Pants : Camel-colored bottom weight suiting twill with a self-faced waistband and a fly front zipper.

Contrast Stripe Tank Top : Dark brown Jersey stretch material tank top with a contrast stripe down the center front to match the lining of the jacket.

Crashing Waves Swim Wear is designed to be worn and swam in while still being fashion forward. These swim suits provide full coverage and stay securly on the bodythrough every movement. Sheer stretch mesh, overlays, gathering and plaid prints are all used to make fashion forward and functional swim wear that will flatter any body type.

Two Piece Swim Suit Top : Pleated mesh overlay across the chest and back strap with plaid side details and racer back upper straps on the top. Elastic around all outside edges.

Two Piece Swim Suit Bottom : Pleated mesh overlay across the front and back with plaid side and bottom details and racer back upper straps on the top. Elastic waistband with elastic around all outside edges.

One Piece Swim Suit: Plaid printed suit with mesh overlay on the waist band and center split front neckline as well as pleated mesh side leg details and halter top. Tie closure at the back of the neck and elastic around all outside edges.

Childrens wear designs created for girls ages 5-9. Inspiration was taken from blooming flowers and the vibrancy and youth that they have all while having a sophisticated look to them. The looks designed have a preppy feel to them, but are also able to be played in without having to worry about ruining the garments. Wrinkle and stain resistant fabrics as well as durable and resiliant fabrics were used to create each look for this reason.

Look 1 : A purple wrinkle-resistant twill princess line dress with a contrasting polka dot sash and straps and a denim bolero jacket with purple piping detail, false pockets, topstitching and a double button closure.

Look 2 : A white ribbed jersey tank top with contrasting polka dot trim. A purple heavy weight jersey cardigan with a scalloped edge denim collar and contrasting polka dot belt. A pair of cuffed denim capri’s with an elastic waistband and piped polka dot trim detail.

-DEPARTURE -Escape the Ordinary

Departure is all about bright, rich colors,

vibrant motifs and a natural feel. The wearer of this trend wants to

be free, have fun, break conventional ideas of how to be healthy and

be confident doing so. She loves

being outdoors surrounded by nature’s beauty and with friends

all while maintaining a healthy lifestyle and her workout clothes

and accessories need to reflect that. With

this trend, she escapes the ordinary. Prints are

bold, the option to layer pieces is key and function is a must.

-RESILIENCE -Updating the Classics

Resilience is about going back to the basics that have

withstood time. Colors are bold, clothing and

accessories are versatile and graphics are rugged. The wearer

of this trend loves training hard and

having fun. He is active in many different environments and

needs his look to fit and work in them all.

He stands apart as and individual and has a

fondness for the classics. Because of this, it’s important for the color story to not only reflect this, but also for it to update

the feel of them to set him apart. He is real

and has real, everyday needs.

Swirl Print:Multi-color print created in Adobe Illustrator using different brushes and strokes overlayed onto each other to create ombre-like effect.

Chevron Print: Multi-color and multi-layer print created in Adobe Illustrator using bold brush strokes in different colors overlayed ontop of each other to create the background. Chevron print with a slight transparency used on top layer to create depth in the print.

Leaf Print: Created usingvector art in Adobe Illustrator. Multiple leaf prints in different hues overlayed to create print with transparent geometric shapes ontop to add interest.

Lightweight Running Jacket:Contrast piping detail on seamlines, full front zipper and inseam front pockets. Vented back with mesh underneath provides beathability and cooling to the wearer.

Sports Bra:Extra support and movement is provided by a reinforced and updated racerback design. Piping and tape details in a contrast color with an all-over print for a bolder look.

Leggings: Side pocket details with additional cell phone/ipod pocket in the back on the waistband. Lighter weight material for the wrap around leg details prevents the leggings from bunching behind the knee and gives breathability during running. Print details adds interest to the legging.
