Day 2 – Sunday, September 24, 2017 Lima

Take the morning to yourself as you catch up on rest from the previous day’s travel. Have a lie in, or take a quick taxi to the neighbourhood of Miraflores for a stroll. You are free for lunch, and at 2pm, we will meet at the lobby of our hotel start our exploration of the city. A visit to the modern and historical parts of the starts in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, including an overview of the impressive Huaca Huallamarca, a pre-Incan archaeological site right in central Lima. You will see the top sites of the Historical Center: Plaza Mayor ("Main Square"), the Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the City Hall and the old streets of Lima that saw the birth of the New World. The tour also includes

a visit to Santo Domingo Convent, an icon of colonial architecture and a World Heritage Site, which was completed in the late stages of the sixteenth century and has been recently restored. It has an ancient crypt (catacomb) where the relics of Peruvian saints such as Saint Rose of Lima and San Martin de Porres lie. We take a unique tour of the Archbishop’s Palace, a beautiful building with thirty rooms, in which 16th-19th century art work are on display

We’ll stop for a Pisco Sour, a famed local cocktail, before continuing on to the Larco Museum, an incomparable private collection of treasures from ancient Peru. This inspiring collection helps visitors to understand and enjoy more than five thousand years of Peruvian history, represented by more than 45,000 exhibits. Finishing your day, you will enjoy Dinner at Café del Museo Restaurant right across the garden of the museum in a beautiful garden setting. Meals Included: Buffet Breakfast, Dinner Day 3 – Monday, September 25, 2017 Lima After a buffet breakfast we set out on an active and interactive discovery of Lima. We turn to the colourful market of Surquillo, to taste native fruits like Lúcuma, Chirimoya, Pitaya, Tuna, and many others. Take in the aromas of fresh flowers, herbs and spices, and even that of the fresh fish and seafood! Interact with the locals, and pick up some tasty local snacks. Our second stop is a small classic ice-cream shop called "la Fiorentina" located on the Boulevard del Mercado, where you can enjoy unique homemade ice cream with typical fruits and special flavors such as aji chile, avocado, basil, etc. We then head off in the direction of Barranco, and our first culinary destination is “Café Tostado ", where there will be a tasting of popular and traditional food of the country, Sancochado, a dish of orange duck and fried sweet potatoes. After some photo ops, we head out to try some of the best local seafood in the restaurant Mi Peru, famous for its crab broth.

Here learn about the pre-Hispanic era, the arrival of settlers, and how the history and movement of peoples has influenced the ingredients and cooking techniques of the region. We continue to the main square of Barranco, and on to a traditional tavern called Juanito, a great place for photos. Finally, we will take the beautiful boardwalk of Barranco towards the neighbourhood Miraflores. On the way, we will make a short stop in the church of Fatima, the Central restaurant and then the institute Le Cordon Bleu Peru. After a rest, we spend some time this afternoon visiting a number of hotels in the Miraflores neighbourhood. Lima has top quality accommodation and Gowa uses a good selection of hotels in the well-located and safe tourist district. Meals Included: Buffet Breakfast, Lunch/Tastings on tour Accommodation: Swissotel Lima Hotel – Premier room www.lima.swissotel.com Rating: 4 Star Duration: 1 Night Day 4 – Tuesday, September 26, 2017 The Sacred Valley Early this morning we head to the airport in Lima for our comfortable flight with LATAM Airlines over the Andes Mountains to Cusco, and then travel onward into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Exact flight itinerary will be provided closer to travel date. Welcome to Cusco! As soon as you arrive into Cusco, we’ll continue the journey to the stunning and historical and culturally significant Sacred Valley of the Incas.

We’ll stop at a vantage point to admire the beautiful natural scenery and views, before heading to Moray to see the enormous circular terraces that were used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. Get your lenses ready at this place is calling for photos.

We also stop by the nearby Maras salt pans, which produce the finest salt in the world, used by great international chefs. We’ll head to the Wayra Sol & Luna Ranch to have our lunch and take in a live Paso horse show

After lunch, it’s on to our first Incan ruins – Ollantaytambo. It is a living and thriving original Incan town, Incan military, religious, and agricultural center located in the famed Sacred Valley. The town is also the hub for trains that valley further down the valley to and from Machu Picchu. We have a few steep stairs to climb here to appreciate the grandeur of the Ollantaytambo archeological site, and from the perspective of a high point within the site, you will look down upon the town of the Ollantaytambo see its incredibly narrow streets and canals that have not changed since the Incas constructed them.

Time permitting, we may make a stop or two at some accommodation options that Goway uses in the area. To limit the effects of altitude, tonight we recommend you taking only a light meal or snack and stay well hydrated. Day 5 – Wednesday, September 27, 2017 The Sacred Valley Today we spend some time visiting the community of Misminay, an indigenous community that, through responsible and sustainable efforts, Goway has helped in the development and employment of its residence and the preservation of its traditional customs. You will receive a warm welcome from the locals, including typical dances and music. You will see Andean families at home and share their daily tasks. Here we participate with the community members, where you can choose to work the land with them and learn about local agriculture, or spinning and dying the wool used in the production of. Your local hosts will invite you to take part in a ceremony to thank Pachamama (Mother Earth) for her bounty.

Day 6 – Thursday, September 28, 2017 Machu Picchu – The Lost City of the Incas After an early breakfast, we will take a short

drive to railway station in Ollantaytambo for

the train journey down the narrow and

beautiful Sacred Valley on to Machu Picchu.

We shall arrive around 11 am and meet our local guide, we will go for an early lunch while we ready ourselves to visit the citadel We head up to the ruins for our 1PM visit, and spend the afternoon there with our guide marveling at the site and learning of the ancient Inca building and civilization. Perched 8,200 feet above the valley, Machu Picchu was hidden by mountains and semi-tropical jungles for 400 years until made famous by Hiram Bingham of Yale University in 1911. Archaeologists believe that the Inca "Virgins of the Sun" took refuge from the Spanish Conquistadors here. In the nearby town of Aguas Calientes, we may stop at a hotel for a site inspection, before continuing on to our own hotel. Actual site inspections and times will be determined locally. At the foot of the imposing mountains surrounding Machu Picchu, by the banks of the Vilcanota River, stands Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel. As the only five-star hotel in the town of Aguas Calientes, it is architecturally-inspired by the enigmatic lost city of the Incas. The exquisite culinary creations of the hotel's restaurant are prepared with regional ingredients to provide for its guests the ultimate in Peruvian cuisine. Before boarding the train, we will spend some time in town and visiting a few other hotels in the area. There is limited hotel choice here, so it’s important for all of our agents to see the options that are available to Goway here. We then head to the train station for our journey back to Ollantaytambo station and by road to Cusco.

Day 8 – Saturday, September 30, 2017 Cusco

Today is spent exploring the city Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour will start at the temple of Koricancha, an ancient Inca palace and main worship center of the god sun.

It was there where the order of the Dominicans built a precious church that lies atop of the old Inca site. We then head to the impressive Plaza de Armas, where stands the dominant Cathedral. It’s then off to visit the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an impressive Incan archaeological site perched on a hill above Cusco. It known for its massive walls of hewn stone, and for the panoramic views of Cusco.

Then to Kenko, where the sun, moon and stars were worshipped, and a visit to Puca-Pucara, which may have been a "tambo" or rest and lodging place for the Inca. Finally, a visit to the Inka Expression art workshop, where you will be able to see artists working in silver, paint and wood -the perfect place to see Andean art. Today you will have lunch courtesy of JW MARRIOTT Cusco. This afternoon there will be some time included for visits of the best accommodation and lodging that Cusco has to offer, followed by some free time where you can stroll the town and of course visit some local artisan stalls and markets. Day 9 – Sunday, October 1, 2017 Lima Take your time this morning to savour the last moments within this picturesque city. Visit some museums independently, pick up some fine alpaca furs, or stroll the streets looking for those perfect photo opportunities. We’ll have a farewell Lunch at Incanto Restaurant, located near the main plaza. Meet back at the hotel in the afternoon to continue our travels back to the airport and onward to Lima. In Lima, time permitting, we’ll make time for a visit to the impressive Circuito Mágico del Agua, the world's largest complex of fountains and holder of a Guinness world record. The waters of the main attraction, known as the "Magic Fountain", reach a height of 80 metres, or 250 feet. Try the "Tunnel of Surprises", a 35 metre-long tunnel; the irresistible "Children's Fountain", or the "Maze of Dreams" fountain made from walls of water producing different effects. At the end of the day, a dinner at a surprise restaurant before going back to the hotel for the night.
