About the Program

Planning a Curriculum of Skills - Bronwyn Jonathon

Athletes’ skills should be developed through a sequential program. This could be

done through individual, small group and/or team sessions. The curriculum of

skills provides a framework for coaches to plan their weekly contact sessions and

ensures all components of the sport are addressed within the team environment.

Training Session Video Analysis & Review - Duncan MacGillivray

Video analysis of training sessions and matches provides an opportunity to analyse the following aspects of performance: player work rate, tackle count, foul play, coach communication style and player communication.

From a team or player performance perspective, all issues can be measured. Coaches and players can gauge levels of commitment and confidence while team cohesion, for example, may be gauged upon levels of discipline, motivation and punctuality.

Getting the Most Out of Individual Sessions - Optimum Learning

Environments - Tony Judd

During this session Tony will explain how he identifies the needs of the individuals

in cricket and designs sessions and learning methods to reach the desired

outcomes for both the coach and the individual.

Replicating Game Demands In Training - Nick Lenoir

Based on GPS data collected in the previous National Championship, we will look

at how through the use of GPS and heart rate monitors, Nick manipulated the

length of drills and rest periods to get desired training intensity to replicate a game

in the lead up to the 2013 National U18 hockey championships.

Fostering Mental Toughness in Athletes - Liz Grylls

Liz will provide take home tips on building confidence in athletes. Learning how to

instil resilience and perseverance in the face of difficult situations, such as,

challenging training sessions, poor performance, performance plateau, and injury.

Practical Methods of Developing Athletes - Tim Ellison and Peter Gahan

Tim and Peter will discuss athlete case studies that encompass all areas of

technical, tactical, physical and psychological development from under age to

open age levels of competition.

Applied Nutrition - Energy In VS Energy Out - Tim Ellison

Tim will provide a “how to” guide that coaches can use to enhance the day to day

nutritional habits of the athletes they work with.

Running Mechanics - Michael Watkins

Explore the optimum running technique for any type of running sport, from sprints,

middle and long distance running through to team sports. Participants who

attended and enjoyed the Frans Bosch workshop in July 2013, will enjoy this

session.
