Fall 2011: Selection

Impaction: SJSU receives applications from more eligible students than there is space for. Therefore, meeting the minimum requirements may not be enough to gain admission to SJSU.

NON-LOCAL: Graduating from HS outside of Santa Clara County

LOCAL: Guaranteed offer of provisional admission to the university with minimum CSU eligibility, however admission to major of choice is not guaranteed.

• SJSU reviews each applicant's record thoroughly in the admission process and admission decisions are rarely reversed.  The admissions process is completely objective, based on each applicant's self-reported academic qualifications on the CSU Application for Admission and official transcripts and test scores received by published deadlines.

• SJSU does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Every denied application has been reviewed for maximum consideration. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new academic information (send official documentation of new information to [email protected]). Grades received in the current academic year are not a basis for an appeal or the reversal of a decision.

• SJSU does not consider appeals to missed deadlines, no matter how compelling the circumstances.
