Wonderful walking days with the very knowledgea-

ble and friendly William - could not be bettered! The

Beaujolais area must be France's best kept secret

walking area. It is not a place I had ever connected

with walking but it has enchanted me with its high

hills, vineyards, beautiful villages and friendly locals.

William has captured all of this to perfection! .

    Where the Experience isEverything

elcome to our 2014 Walking & Cycling Holidays

brochure. This year we have created several new

and exciting walking holidays across France. By building

on our growing reputation for providing activity breaks

with a real local experience, we have developed several

new self-guided holidays that take you to the heart of a

region, and make you feel part of the local way of life. In

addition, we strive to improve our existing holidays at

    every opportunity.

High Point Holidays continues to be a byword for

quality and value for money. The majority of our

holidays are full or half board, representing great value

in this difficult economic climate. In addition, we are

committed to bringing you a personal and flexible

service that means you get the most out of your holiday. We have developed a range of unique guided &

independent walking holidays at different grades to suit

diverse interests and tastes. We also have a range of

tailor-made guided holidays for private groups. Please

visit our website for more information. We hope you

enjoy looking through our brochure, and look forward to

hearing from you soon. William Armstrong

    Wonderful Regional Cuisine

Our philosophy is simple; we lookfor traditional guest houses in

    beautiful surroundings, where a

    personal, friendly service is

    guaranteed and where great authentic,

local food and drink is on offer.

Our holidays are all about home cooked local

specialities lovingly prepared with fresh regionalproduce, sometimes grown on the farm where

youre staying. Most evening meals are 4-course

set menus taken in your guest house where

youll get to try original and delicious dishes.

Meals in the B&Bs are great experiences, where

you share your table with your hosts and other

travellers that may be staying in the guest

house. You will enjoy a convivial evening with

great food, washed down by the local wine.

Breakfasts are also the occasion to discover the

local specialities. Depending on the particular

guesthouse and the culinary inspiration of your

host, you'll enjoy home-made jams and pastries,

fresh farmhouse bread, local cheeses and dairy

products, and regional cold meats. If picnic

lunches are included in your holiday, they are

usually supplied by your hosts and will take

different forms depending on the holiday. Home-

made quiches, salads, pasta dishes or

    sandwiches using fresh local produce.

    Experience the Difference

    W

High Point Holidays has chosen a select number of quiet, unspoilt destinations, untainted by the imprint of mass

tourism, where a distinct local identity thrives. Walking in

these off the beaten track places means quiet trails,

independent guest houses and landscapes that have little

changed over the years. Whether you decide on a guided or

independent holiday, by choosing us, youll discover more

about these regions, their people, culture, customs, history,

    wildlife and natural beauty.

We aim to make you feel part of the local way of life not

only through a selection of diverse and interesting walks butalso by our choice of small authentic guest houses, great

local cuisine and a real exchange with your hosts and other

    locals.

    Meeting the Locals

As walkers & cyclists we can enjoy a relationship with locals in a

way that tourists travelling by car or bus can rarely match.

We pride ourselves on creating holidays that naturally encourage

communication with local people. Whether its our small French

guest houses where meals are taken with your hosts and fellowguests, stopping off for mint tea in a local teahouse in Morocco

(tailor-made holiday) or visiting local cellars for wine tasting,

youll have the opportunity to enjoy a relationship with some

    special and memorable people.

    Walking

Value for Money & Personal Service

On most of our holidays we use small independent guest

houses (see table overleaf). They are mainly between 2

and 4 stars or equivalent, although they often have a

charm and originality that cannot be judged by a simplerating system. They could be quaint cottages, historic

farms, manor houses or chateaux, all of which have been

lovingly restored. Often set in magnificent surroundings,

each one has its own unique character. Examples of the

guest houses that may be used are provided on our web-

site. All rooms are en-suite unless otherwise stated in the

    holiday details.

They are not only chosen for their charm and quality but also

for the friendliness of their hosts. All of your hosts reserve you

a very warm welcome. They will take great pleasure in looking

after you, exchanging stories and providing you with useful

tips for your following days activity. Where possible we choose

small B&B style guest houses where your hosts welcome you

into their lives and their homes. Your hosts are passionate

about their property and their region and will go out of their

way to offer you that personal touch. Whether its showing you

around their historic property, or a visit to their cellar to try

the wine from their vineyard, they will take great pleasure in

    making your stay extra special.

    Small Guest Houses, Big Welcome

    Pricing

High Point Holidays has established a selection of holidays that look to

match quality with value for money. We seek to use guest houses and

other local partners that allow us to create holidays within the reach of

a modest budget. Despite the low value of the pound compared to

other currencies we have kept our prices as low as possible without

affecting the quality of our services. Many of our holidays are full

board. All prices are per person and based on 2 people sharing, unless

otherwise stated. A single supplement is payable for single travellers

on our self-guided holidays and on our guided holidays if they would

like a single room, i.e. not to share with others.

InformationBefore your holiday we will provide you with an information pack which

will detail the organisation of your holiday, the walking itinerary, your

guest houses, information about the region, as well as practical

information such as what equipment you will need to bring.

    Quality of services

Our objective is to ensure the satisfaction of each and every customer.

Please dont hesitate to get in touch if you have specific comments

concerning a holiday. We will take care to respond as quickly as

    possible.

    Evaluation form

In order to ensure the continued improvement of our holidays, we

kindly ask you to fill in an evaluation form at the end of your holiday.

Thanks for your help and support.

Not all of our holidays are included in this brochure.

For example, a limited number of self-guided

walking holidays in the UK, as well as some cycling

holidays in France are not covered. In addition, the

brochure does not include all of the destinations

where we are able to run guided walking holidays

    for private groups or clubs.

You can find more information about all of our

    holidays on our web site:

ur destinations are, above all, chosen for their delightful walking in beautiful scenery, away from the crowds. We also ensure, however that our

selected regions have a number of rich and diverse interests. Our holidays let you uncover the real identity of a region, in short, what makes it

different and special. We want you to appreciate an areas cuisine, architecture, customs, history, culture, wildlife and of course, its natural beauty. Of

course, particular destinations have specific things to see and experience and will be of interest to different people. Each holiday description includes

a summary of the delights that are awaiting you. To help you choose we have captured the main interests of each holiday in a table. Happy browsing!

    Small Groups

We are committed to professional, informative and supportive

leadership. As well as ensuring safe progression, the leader will

bring to life the region, through his passion and knowledge on

such subjects as history, wildlife and geology. We only use experi-

enced guides that are resident in the country. The guide will pace

the day so that there will be plenty of time to take photos, relax

    and soak up the atmosphere.

Group holidays are an ideal way to meet new people and makenew friends. They are also an excellent means for single travellers

to enjoy the company of like minded walkers during their holiday.

We make sure that everyone feels very much part of the group.

We have taken the decision to restrict group sizes to a maximum

of 8 people, on our fixed date guided walking holidays. (private

groups can book for larger parties). Our choice is based on

personal experience. Smaller groups tend to remain together and

allow customers to get a better quality of service from our leader.

It also allows us to use smaller more informal guest houses, some-

thing which is not possible with larger groups. There is also

generally a minimum group size of 4 persons. The holiday will not

normally be confirmed until the minimum number has beenreached, although some holidays may go ahead with smaller

    numbers.

Responsible TourismFor High Point Holidays being RESPONSIBLE, SUSTAINABLE & RESPECTING THE

ENVIRONMENT is not an afterthought but an integral part of our philosophy and, your

holiday experience. In particular, we use small independent guest houses, helping the

local economy and environment by re-using historic properties, bringing a secondary

income to local farmers and using fresh, local produce for cooking. It also facilitates anexchange with our hosts, and other guests. We encourage the respect of local people

and their traditions and culture by visiting small independent producers rather than

mass tourist attractions. Where possible we ensure that destinations are accessible by

public transport. We will be happy to help you with your travel arrangements.

he southern Beaujolais region is known as the

Golden stones country (pierres dores), due to the

warm colour of the limestone used in its historic build-

ings. Here, our unique walking holiday will pass

through a number of remarkable villages with some of

the prettiest villages in France perched on hilly

promontories. Wherever you look, you'll find fortified

remains, chateaux or churches adorning the vine

covered slopes. The scale and gentleness of the slopes

has created a sumptuous landscape of interlocking hills

receding to the horizon, that literally leaves you with

the impression of flying over the hills. This picturesque

ern Provence where gleaming white limestone forms

a stark contrast with the deep blue sky and the turquoise

Mediterranean. The rugged chain of Sainte-Baume is

12km in length and culminates at the Signla des

Les Calanques on the Mediterranean coast offers a truly
