THE HMAO SERIES IS DESIGNED FOR LIGHTING LARGE

AREAS SUCH AS ROADWAYS, PORT FACILITIES, AIRPORTS,WATER TREATMENT PLANTS, PARKING LOTS, RAIL YARDS

AND STORAGE AREAS. THE HIGH PERFORMANCE OPTICAL

ASSEMBLY PROVIDES HIGH VERTICAL ILLUMINATION WHICH

IMPROVES VISIBILITY AND SAFETY AS WELL AS REDUCING

THE NUMBER OF POLES REQUIRED IN ALL APPLICATIONS.

Dimensional Details

DistributionsHousing The housing shall be die cast aluminum, and finished with polyester powder paint. The bracketarm clamp shall attach to a 51mm (2") nominal schedule 40 pipe and allow for ±3° adjustment forleveling the luminaire. A stainless steel lamp clamp lined with woven glass cloth shall be attachedto the reflector housing assembly for standard 1000 watt HID lamps. The fixture shall pass avibration fatigue test per ANSI standards for Roadway Lighting Equipment - Luminaire Vibration.

Ballast

The ballasts shall be copper wound with power factor 90%, and have a published ballast factor of1 to ensure full output of the lamp. All ballast components shall be completely removable as aunitized quick disconnect assembly for maintenance. A terminal block shall be provided to simplifywiring and provide positive electrical connections. A protected starter, if specified, shall sense aninoperative or missing HPS lamp and automatically shut down to prevent runaway operation,shortened life, and damage to secondary ballast windings.

Optical Assembly

The optical assembly consists of highly specular enhanced aluminum panels hermetically sealedbetween a spun aluminum cover, an open ventilated borosilicate glass piece, and/or a prismaticrefractor or an internal reflector system. The exposed smooth glass inner surface shall becontinuously cleaned by the chimney effect of flow through air and subject to no permanentdeterioration. The lamp shall be operated in the vertical position for maximum life and lumenmaintenance. There shall be no glass bottom enclosure to scatter light above the horizon, tocollect dirt or to reduce luminaire efficiency. The luminaire dirt depreciation shall be less than 5%(LDD 0.95).

Fixture shall be UL listed for wet locations, UL/CUL listed for 40°C.

Dimensional Details

Ballast HousingThe ballast and lamp housings shall be die cast of low copper content aluminum alloy. Thecastings shall be subjected to a 7-stage pretreatment cleaning prior to being finished withan electrostatically applied and baked on polyester powder coat paint. The bracket armclamp shall attach to a 51mm (2”) nominal pipe and allow for +/-3° adjustment for levelingthe luminaire. A porcelain-enclosed socket with a nickel-plated grip screw shell provideslamp support. A stainless steel lamp clamp lined with woven glass cloth shall be providedfor standard 1000 watt HID lamps. The fixture shall pass a vibration fatigue test simulating aminimum 1-g peak acceleration.

BallastThe ballast shall be copper wound with a power factor over 90%. It shall have a publishedballast factor of 1 to ensure full lamp output. All ballast components shall be completelyremovable as a unitized assembly. All ballasts shall provide starting temperatures to -40°F.Quick disconnects and a terminal block shall be provided to simplify wiring and providepositive electrical connections. A protected starter, if specified, shall sense an inoperative ormissing HPS lamp and automatically shut down to prevent damage to the ballast windings.

OpticsThe HMSC optical assembly shall consist of formed aluminum reflectors with anodizedfinish. The IESNA cutoff symmetric distribution reflectors are spun and fluted. The IESNAcutoff asymmetric distribution reflectors are hydro formed and housed in a spun aluminumcover. All optical systems are enclosed with a clear drop borosilicate glass lens in a gasketeddoorframe. The doorframe includes four stainless steel latches and a hinge for re-lamping.
