The true power of Choi Kwang Do is not just confined to the individual being able to generate vast amounts of force in every punch, kick or strike. The true power of Choi Kwang Do lies in its ability to create long lasting changes which positively affects the individual in all aspect of their life. THE HIDDEN POWER OF: CHOI KWANG DO There is a saying “Success leaves Clues.” If you pay close enough attention you’ll be able to follow the trail. A student of mine named Mr Sacchin Shah, began studying Choi Kwang Do with me at the tender age of 5. As he progressed in the art of Choi Kwang Do I invited him to join our Leadership Training Programme - this is a programme that seeks to develop character and technical proficiency whilst enabling the student to realise and apply their innate potential. The power of this type of training is immense. Not only does it help transform our student’s lives but also those around them as they are able to impart the lessons learned from their Leadership Training Programme, not by lectures but by their exemplary character. After many years in the Leadership Training Programme, I recommended to Mr Shah’s parents that their son who is now a teenager take part in our Assistant Instructor Training His proactive parents acted upon my advice and I’m proud to say that he is now a qualified Assistant Instructor, great marital artist and a fantastic role model. Last year, May 2013, Mr Shah along with millions of other school children in the UK sat their General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations. Mr Shah successfully obtained 13 GCSE’s (2 A*, 10 A’s & 1 B). His success doesn’t stop there. Out of hundreds of students at Alperton High School the Headteacher appointed Mr Shah to the coveted role of Head Boy. He is now studying 4 GCE A-Levels (General Certificate of Education Advanced Level) in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Economics. His current martial arts ambition is to take our schools Head Instructor Certification Course (when he is of age) and become a 4 th Degree Black Belt, which is only one and a half years away from now! 18 Martial Arts Today SPECIAL FEATURE Mr Sacchin Shah Head Boy (2nd from the le6)

THE HIDDEN POWER OF:

CHOI KWANG DO

There is a saying “Success leaves Clues.” If you pay close enough attention you’ll be able to follow the trail.

Out of hundreds of students at Alperton High

School the Headteacher appointed Mr Shah to the coveted role of Head Boy.

He is now studying 4 GCE A-Levels (General Certificate of Education Advanced Level) in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Economics.

His current martial arts ambition is to take our schools Head Instructor Certification Course (when he is of age) and become a 4th Degree Black Belt, which is only one and a half years away from now!

In terms of academic studies he aims to complete his A-Levels next year and then attend University and I have been told (following in his Instructor’s footsteps) he will go on to study Aeronautical Engineering.

The question is, “Can he do it?” As his Instructor, I for one am confident that there is nothing that he cannot achieve, through hard work and self discipline that his Choi Kwang Do training has provided thus far, he most certainly will be guaranteed ‘Certain Victory’ which is the basic philosophical principle of our martial art ‘Pil Seung’.

Still Not Convinced?

Mr Adam Massoud at the age of 10 began his study of Choi Kwang Do. After several months of training he was invited to join Wembley Choi Kwang Do

Leadership Training Programme, where he trained alongside other students in the Programme. At the age of 13 and after several years of consistent Leadership training he received his 1st Degree Black Belt. In 2010 he was invited to take the Assistant Instructor certification course and training. He became an Assistant Instructor and taught at Wembley Choi Kwang Do School; helping others to develop themselves and their understanding of Choi Kwang Do. Currently he is a 3rd Degree Black Belt.

In 2011 Mr Massoud was elected as the Vice Chair at Brent Youth Parliament

and in 2012 he became the Deputy Head Boy at Wembley High School.

Last Year 2013 Mr Massoud sat 4 A-Levels in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Further Maths he recieved one A* and three A’s. Currently he is attending Imperial College in London studying Theoretical Physics.

Ms Aqsa Hussain success story is some what similar to Mr Massoud. Ms Hussain began her Choi Kwang Do training at the age of 10. Three years later she obtained her 1st Degree Black Belt and in 2005 she became an Assistant Instructor after completing the Assistant Instructor Course.

Having attained fantastic grades in her GCSE examinations (8 A*’s and 3 A’s) Ms Hussain attended the prestigious Henrietta Barnett Grammar School in London, where she made history. Her charisma, diligence and now natural leadership skills caught the attention of the teachers and students alike and she was duly elected as Head Girl of the school. This was the first time in Henrietta Barnet’s one hundred and thirteen year history that a student who had just joined the school in sixth form had been appointed to the position of Head Girl!

Ms Husaain obtained 3 A-Levels (Biology A, French A and Chemistry B) at Henritta Barnett and currently she is studying for a degree in Political Science in Amsterdam. Her goal is to obtain a Master’s Degree and then work for the United Nations, where she can create positive changes that will improve the quality of life for millions of people around the world.
