Holophane low bay luminaires are rated for

| INDOOR LIGHTING

Manufacturing Areas

Manufacturing areas often require shallow luminaires withefficient, wide-spread, low-brightness distribution. Thecondensed side mounted ballast assembly permitsinstallation in areas with low ceilings or in between trussesso that cranes, forklifts and other moving machinery canpass without interference.

Loading and Storage Areas

Four standard Holophane optics are available for the LowProfile Series all having lamps available from 150 to 400watts. In addition to the versatility of the optics, the LowProfile Series has features which make maintenance abreeze – perfect for loading and storage areas. The lowprofile design is ideal for limited space ceilings giving evengreater flexibility for design criteria. The prismatic glassreflectors are available covered, which minimizes uplight, oruncovered, which produces about 15% uplight, increasingvertical footcandles.

Production Areas

Open bottom reflectors circulate air, keeping the fixtureclean and cool even in the dirtiest of environments. Sinceborosilicate glass contains no static charge and is non-yellowing the Low Profile Series luminaire needs minimalmaintenance. Energy saving ballasts are available for MH,HPS and Pulse Start Metal Halide lamps.

Parking Garages

The Low Profile Series has distributions to suit a wide rangeof applications within a typical parking garage. Asymmetrical distribution may be used for large open areaswhile the asymmetric distribution is ideal for drive and aisleways. Available in low profile wide or narrow distributions,the Low Profile Series is well suited for low mountingheights to achieve desired light levels.

Specifications

Complete luminaire shall be Holophane Low Profile Series catalog number ______. Theluminaire shall consist of a low profile mounting assembly to which is at tached a ballasthous ing and an optical re flec tor/refractor assembly. The entire as sem bly shall be a max i mumof ____ deep. It shall be C/UL/US listed 1598 for damp lo ca tions up to 55°C (40°C for 400Wwith Enduralume acrylic lens).

The low profile mount ing assembly shall have a cast aluminum adjustable hub for .75”conduit rigid pendant mounting or for balanced luminaire support from hooks or loops.Mounting hooks and loops shall be self lubricating malleable cast iron and protected againstcorrosion with zinc plated chromate finish. The rigid formed steel housing mount ingassembly, and the ballast housing shall be protected against corrosion by a seven stage pre -treat ment fol lowed by electrostatically applied polyester powder paint, which meets ASTMstandard practices for hard ness, humidity, impact and salt spray resistance to prevent crosshatch creep, fading, cracking and other corrosion related de te ri o ra tion.

Optics (Choose One)Enduralume® OpticsThe standard optical as sem bly shall consist of a 510mm (20”) di am e ter aluminum reflectorwith a minimum 90% re flec tance, white baked polyester powder paint finish com bined with a spun-on dropped pris mat ic boro sil i cate glass or acrylic refractor. The refractor shall be 120mm (4.75”) deep with precisely formed prisms producing a sym met ri cal light dis tri bu tion.

The optical assembly shall swing open yet stay attached to the housing so that no tools shallbe required for relamping. The porcelain enclosed mogul base socket with corrosionresistant, nickel plated, lamp grip screw shall be factory prewired and set for op ti mum lightdis tri bu tion.

Prismpack® OpticsGlass reflector shall be Endural® prismatic boro sil i cate glass with a minimum wall thicknessof 3mm (.13”). Reflector shall have a per ma nent ly spun-on and sealed anodized aluminumcover.

The zinc plated steel, reflector attachment yoke shall have swingover locking lugs whichprevent ac ci den tal dis lodg ing. Integral support provision for full ven ti la tion and optionalsafety chain shall be pro vid ed. No tools shall be required to attach or detach the reflectorfrom the housing. The smooth inner glass sur face shall not deteriorate in normal in dus tri alat mo spheres and shall return to original reflecting values after cleaning.

Prismalume® OpticsGlass reflector shall be Endural® prismatic boro sil i cate glass with a minimum wall thicknessof 3mm (.13”). It shall be firmly supported by a zinc plated wire frame from the bottom ofthe reflector. CentaGlo® OpticsFixture shall include an optical assembly composed of an Endural® prismatic glass reflectorand refractor permanently joined together. The upper component shall be a reflectorpermitting uplight in a controlled area while also reflecting light back into the lowerrefractor. The refractor shall be available in either a symmetrical or asymmetricaldistribution.

Textile Mills

Textile mills with low ceiling heights often require shallowluminaires with efficient, wide-spread, low-brightnessdistribution. The Bantam’s smaller size and lower wattagepackages permits installation in areas with low ceilings or inbetween trusses so that cranes, forklifts and other movingmachinery can pass without interference.

Distribution Warehouses

Four standard Holophane optics are available for theBantam Series all having lamps available from 50 to 175watts. Besides the versatility of the optics, the BantamSeries has features which make maintenance a breeze –perfect for distribution and warehouse areas. At less than16” deep, the low wattage design is ideal for limited spaceceilings giving even greater flexibility for design criteria. The prismatic glass reflectors are available covered, whichminimizes uplight, or uncovered, which produces about15% uplight, increasing vertical footcandles.

Specifications

Complete luminaire shall be Holophane Bantam 2000 catalog number_______________. The luminaire shall consist of an optical assembly which is attachedto an integral ballast housing. The complete luminaire shall be UL listed for WetLocation and CSA certified. It shall be bal anced without external ad just ment whensupported by hooks or loops and shall have a stainless steel relamping cable betweenhousing and optical as sem bly.

The die cast aluminum housing shall incorporate a wiring chamber for 90°C wire,threaded entry for DN20NPT (.75") conduit en trance with set screw, stainless steelfinger op er at ed double action latches, and have a cor ro sion resistant, white, baked onpolyester powder paint, over a 7 stage pretreatment process.

Optics (Choose one)The optics shall be supported by a die cast aluminum door plate with integral latchstrike surfaces. A cast in notch shall properly align the door to the housing so that noadjustment is needed for designed photometric performance.

Enduralume® OpticsOptical assembly shall consist of an enclosed prismatic borosilicate glass or acrylicrefractor and spun alu mi num reflector. Re flec tor and door plate shall have the samefinish as the housing.

The Lobay V luminaire achieves a wide squaredistribution by utilizing a unique optical assembly. It consists of an aluminum reflectorwith white baked-on enamel applied to theinterior and exterior surface. This contourand paint treatment has been precisionengineered to provide, with the proper lens,spacing criteria of 1.3 and 1.4. The squaredistribution is achieved by the Quadrature®

lens. This unique lens is injection molded withthe visual appearance of four separatequadrants joined at the center. This lensprovides a wide square distribution withexcellent horizontal and vertical illumination.

The Lobay V series incorporates aRefractive Grid® lens with analuminum cover for outstanding glarecontrol. The Refractive Grid lens isinjection molded with a preciselyformed array of hemisphericalrefractive elements on both the upperand lower sides of the lens. Theseoptical elements freely transmit thedownward light while interceptingpotential glare and redirects it touseful light for the work area.

Production Areas

Where excessive moisture is prevalent,a special version of the Lobay Vluminaire which is UL listed as“suitable for wet locations” isavailable as an option. Additionally, toprevent unwanted downtime inproduction areas, the Lobay V wasdesigned for ease of maintenance. Torelamp, simply unlatch the door andallow it to hinge downward, or lift offand remove as desired. After thelamp has been changed, merely swingthe door up and latch using yourhands – relamp without using tools.

Parking Garages

The Lobay V Series has an optionalsquare distribution to suit a widerange of applications within a typicalparking garage. A square distributionis ideal for large open areas wherelight from adjacent fixtures contributesto provide excellent uniformity. Evenhorizontal and vertical illumination isdesired for increased safety toeliminate dark areas where intrudersor muggers may be hiding. Tomaximize performance over time,simply wipe the inner surface of thereflector and the tempered glass heatshield with a soft cloth.

Process IndustriesThere are applications where the conditions require anenclosed luminaire producing ef fi cient, wide spread lightingdistribution. The Enduralume V luminaire combines a whitepainted highly reflective reflector with a spun on borosilicateglass or acrylic refractor. The reflector/refractor combinationresults in a low brightness appearance providing an efficientblend of hor i zon tal and vertical illumination.

Warehouse LightingThe Enduralume luminaire‘s unique design of combining analuminum reflector with a drop prismatic glass refractorresults in high vertical footcandles. Vertical footcandles areessential in stack lighting where it is necessary to read labelson boxes. Also, by having the luminaire enclosed, it meetsUL requirements of containing a MH lamp in case of non-passive lamp failure. This is often important in warehouseareas where there is the potential for damage if lamps arenot contained properly.

Post OfficesThe Enduralume V luminaire, with its enclosed optics, issuited for moderately dirty en vi ron ments as well as cleanareas. The luminaire will provide long life and easymaintenance as re quired by these ap pli ca tions. Itsappearance and rug ged ness permit it to be equally at homein commercial as well as industrial applications.

Food Processing AreasSimilar to warehouse lighting, an enclosed luminaire isessential for safety in food handling areas. The acrylicrefractor is a good choice for this application and alsoprovides uniform light and is impact resistant.

Besides the application benefits of the Enduralume Vluminaire, it is also a structurally sound unit. A relamp cablesecures the reflector to the ballast housing when relamping.Gaskets are located at the reflector/ballast and the reflector/refractor connections to minimize dirt entering the opticalassembly.

Electronic BallastThe HID electronic ballast shall be provided withintegral color coded leads. This electronic ballastshall be multi-voltage capable and shall operatefrom a nominal voltage range of 208 – 277 voltsAC. The electronic ballast shall have a systemefficiency of greater than 93% under full lampoperation. It shall be FCC compliant for EMI/RFI asper parts 18.305 and 18.307. Total harmoniccurrent distortion shall be less than 15%. Startinginput current shall be less than stabilized lampoperating current. The ballast system shall be

capable of maintaining stabilized lamp operationthrough one full cycle of power interruption.Electrical system shall withstand transient peaks ofseven strikes of 100kHz ring waves at 2.5kV levelfor both common and differential mode per IEEEC62.41.

The ballast shall be capable of powering one 400,350 or 320 watt pulse start metal halide lamp.Lamp wattage shall not vary more than ± 3.0% fora ±10% change in input line voltage. A crest factorof 1.5 shall not be exceeded. Lamps operating onthe ballast shall be warranted by the lampmanufacturer to deliver improved mean lumens ascompared to same lamp operation on anelectromagnetic ballast. Where applicable, a meansof continuous dimming shall be a part of the ballastsystem.

Dimming control is to be of the common 0–10 voltDC. 0-10VDC dimming control voltage shall bederived from the ballast, not an externally imposedsource. Dimming shall range from 100% down tono less than 50% of input power. Automatic overtemperature protection shall be provided. Theballast shall carry a warranty of three years wheninstalled in applications meeting the manufacturer’sconditions and the requirements of the applicableUL safety listings.

Dimming option shall include a “Hold High” featurethat maintains full power to lamps when starting upafter loss of power. After a 20 minute delay, thelamp will be restored to its previous dimmedsetting. This is to comply with lamp manufacturerrecommendations regarding starting lamps whiledimmed and the effect on lamp life.

PD - Pendant The separable DN20NPT (.75”) threaded conduit mounting platewith integral set screw shall include a quick install slide onattachment. The housing shall be balanced and suitable for supportfrom hooks or loops. A slide on wireway cover shall enclose thewiring chamber which is suitable for 90° or 105°C building wire.

ND - Non-Disconnect Pendant and Throughway Wiring The die cast aluminum pendant and/or throughway integral wiringbox shall contain provisions for both DN20NPT (.75”) threadedmounting conduit and direct ceiling mounting. It shall contain anintegral hinge connecting the die cast aluminum pin on the housingto support the luminaire while electrical connections are made. Themounting shall have the same corrosion resistant finish as thehousing. The mounting shall consist of 2 cast knockouts, 4 ceilingmount drill points, DN20NPT (.75”) conduit threaded top opening,and be UL/CUL listed and CUL certified for up to five #10 AWGconductors for through wiring. The housing shall swing up andconnect to the ND box by latching the captive J bolt and wing nutwithout use of tools.

QD - Quick-Disconnect Pendant and Throughway Wiring The die cast aluminum pendant and/or throughway quick disconnect wiringbox shall contain provisions for both DN20NPT (.75”) threaded conduitmounting and direct ceiling mounting. It shall contain an integral hingeconnecting the die cast aluminum pin on the housing to allow the luminaireto hang free with electrical disconnect. The mounting shall have the samecorrosion resistant finish as the housing. The mounting shall consist of 2 castknockouts, 4 ceiling mount drill points, DN20NPT (.75”) conduit threaded topopening, and be UL listed for up to five #10 AWG conductors for throughwiring.

The housing shall swing up and connect to the QD box by latching thecaptive J bolt and wing nut without use of tools. A dead front receptacle shallbe mounted inside the QD box which will make an electrical connection withthe pre-wired plug in the housing.

The receptacle shall be UL listed for connection to lighting branch circuitswhich can then be energized before the housing is attached. The groundingconnection shall be the first to make contact and the last to disconnect.

It shall be CUL certified and listed per UL-1059 (Panel Board Accessory) andUL-98 (Enclosed and Dead Front Switches) permitting the luminaire to bedisconnected while under load.

Auxiliary LightingEmergency and standby options providesufficient lighting during failure orinterruptions of the normal power supply.

FusingAccessible fuse protects and isolatesluminaire from circuit. Must specify voltage.
