IT’S OUR PLEASURE TO SERVE YOU … word from your leadership teamWELCOME
Summer is in full swing and we have been lucky enough to have outdoor music and cream puffs to facilitate the bright days and warm weather. We have also been lucky enough to start moving new residents back in our community! With each new move in, our family gets a little bigger. We appreciate everyone who takes time out of their day to make our new residents feel welcome.
THIS MONTH’S silver starARLINE KRUK
Arline was born and raised in Milwaukee. She graduated from Pulaski High School. She met her husband, Ron, in the Polish Mazur Dance Group, while she was still in high school. They were married quick, while he was on leave. Arline went to Germany with him for 5 months, came back to Fort Knox, Ky. for two years, and three children later, he was then called back to Germany for another couple of years. While there, Arline had her only daughter. Alrine and Ron were living in Germany when the Berlin Wall went up; she said those were scary times. They have a total of eight children, seven boys and only one girl. After about six kids, Arline needed to get out of the house and became a Tupperware consultant, giving home parties and becoming a manager. She was with Tupperware for 30 some years. Back then, when you became a manager, you were given a brand new car every two years; with eight kids an extra car came in handy. Tupperware had conventions in Kissimmee, Fla. and every year Arline would go. They would give her tickets to Disney World, one of her all-time favorite vacation destinations. She went at least 25 times. Arline and Ron travelled to see her son in the Air Force, they visited South Dakota, saw Mount Rushmore, buffalo in Custer State Park, New Mexico to Carlsbad Cavern to see the bats fly out at night, and took a hot air balloon ride in Albuquerque. The thrill of their lives was on their 30th wedding anniversary, the kids got them a book on Hawaii and a card. Inside the card was a week vacation to Hawaii. They extended it to two weeks and visited four of the islands. Arline loves to play bingo, all games, Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. She is a season ticket holder to the Fireside. Arline lives here with her precious cat, Diesel. We are so happy to have you here with us!

GLOBETROTTING ONLINE
The next best thing to being there, traveling online is a good way to get away. Many of the world’s tourist destinations are using technology so that virtual travelers can tour and interact with locales. Here’s a sample of some digital tours:
• AUSTRALIA’S GREAT BARRIER REEF AttenboroughsReef.com
• ACROPOLIS OF ATHENS AcropolisVirtualTour.gr
• PERU’S MACHU PICCHU YouVisit.com/tour/MachuPicchu
Use the search terms “virtual tour” with the names of other famous places, and you’ll likely find they offer online experiences. There are tours of the Eiffel Tower, Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal, and the Egyptian pyramids. NASA even has out-of-this-world trips to the International Space Station and explorations of other solar systems.

RECAP: HOW WE STAYED CONNECTED THIS MONTH
august highlightsWith the warm temperatures in July and August, it was a beautiful night when Dulce Duo came to perform. We look forward to having them again. We noticed an Imperial Moth that stopped at the doorway to lay eggs. We will see if they make it through the winter. We also released the Black Swallowtail Butterfly that showed up on our parsley plant as a caterpillar. And we can’t forget the State Fair Fun we had, including cream puffs.
THIS MONTH’S heart heroHOSPITALITY, EXCELLENCE, APPRECIATION, RESPECT, TEAMWORK
To be a HEART Hero, you must demonstrate the five qualities HEART stands for: Hospitality, Excellence, Appreciation, Respect and Teamwork. Each month, an Associate is chosen and must demonstrate these qualities consistently. SHATAVIA TALBERT was chosen to be our HEART Hero for the month of September. Shatavia, who goes by Shay, has been a Server with us for six months. Shay was born and raised in Milwaukee. She has a brother and sister, and a dog named Lizzy. She just celebrated her 17th birthday. She is a junior at Greenfield High School. After graduation, Shay is considering going to college to pursue a career in the nursing field. In her spare time, Shay loves to shop for shoes and jewelry. She also likes to play soccer; she has played since grade school. During spring break, Shay and her family take vacations. They have been to Minnesota and Chicago. She loves to hear the residents’ stories, especially when they were her age, it’s the best part of her job! Shay’s favorite food is Chicken Alfredo and her favorite restaurant is Applebee’s. She likes to watch reality TV shows and scary movies, any with paranormal activity. Her favorite sports team is the Milwaukee Bucks. Her mom got to meet Giannis Antetokounmpo. Shay’s favorite color is purple and her favorite holiday is Christmas. Thank you Shay, for your commitment to our residents and your ever present smile! We appreciate you!
