Hiawatha First Nation EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Position Title: Old Railroad Stop Manager Location: Hiawatha, ON Duration: Full-Time Posting Deadline: June 17, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. Tentative Interview Date: Week of June 25-29, 2018 Salary Range: Based on Experience About Us: The Old Railroad Stop (ORRS) is a multi-faceted business operated by Hiawatha First Nation (HFN). The Old Railroad Stop was a former stop when the rail used to cross over the picturesque Rice Lake. It is now home of a gas station, convenience store and gift shop. Hiawatha takes pride in providing quality product and service to its citizens and visitors. It is essential that these services are provided in a way that supports Hiawatha’s vision statement and the 7 Grandfather teachings of humility, honesty, bravery, wisdom, truth, respect and love. Position Summary: The Old Railroad Stop Manager will be responsible for overall integrity of the operations of ORRS, to provide accurate information to the Administrator, including analysis of sales reports, budgeting, forecasting and preparing financial reports. The incumbent will be responsible for directing and managing ORRS staff, creating and maintaining internal policies, following existing principles and systems, practices and procedures, and implement changes as required. Other responsibilities will include interacting with customers, monitoring customer satisfaction, improving foot traffic and profitability, human resources and other day to day occurrences. The incumbent must follow the strategic plans of the organization, adhering to the HFN vision and values. Reporting: This position will report to the First Nation Administrator. This position will oversee the Old Railroad Stop team, which includes full-time and part-time Customer Service Clerks, Gas Attendants, Inventory Purchasing Clerk, Lead Hand and call-in staffing pool. Summary of Main Responsibilities: Preparing monthly, quarterly and other reports (budgets, reconciliations, variance reporting, ROI, P & L, sales, trends, KPI, etc.) as required Coding, approving, tracking and ensuring file retention of all invoices, expenses and Gas Rebate forms relevant to ORRS Business Operations Ensuring accuracy of all bank deposits, payroll timesheets, ATM fills, OLG Lotto statements and monthly General Ledgers Accountability for budget expenditures plus all financial reporting and reconciliations Monitoring financial performance to ensure ORRS is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitment Developing and implementing financial “safeguard” controls, policies and procedures Ensuring that inventory control, turnover and profitability is maximized and monitoring profit and loss Providing orientation, supervision, direction, training, coaching and mentoring to all ORRS personnel Evaluating performance of all ORRS personnel and assist when needed on improvement

Requirements: Post-Secondary Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Management or

another relevant degree or diploma; and Minimum three years’ relevant experience managing in a retail environment; or A combination of education, training or work experience which Hiawatha deems to be equivalent Must provide a clear CPIC Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience with computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office, email, internet, POS systems, etc.) Experience with budget and financial management Knowledge of OLG Rules and Regulations Ability to work as an individual and as a team leader Proven knowledge of excellent customer services standards and practices Well developed interpersonal, public relations and relationship building skills Excellent communication (oral, electronic and written) Excellent organizational, time and file management skills Knowledge of legislation an asset Exhibits a high degree of initiative and self-direction Proactive problem solver with excellent conflict resolution skills
