BACKGROUND

Haw & Inglis Projects (Pty)Ltd is a building construction company operating in the Western Cape

and is active in the office, retail, industrial and residential construction sector. The company is

based at the Hillcrest Estate in Durbanville where we have offices, equipment yard and workshops.

The company forms part of the Haw & Inglis group of companies which have been active in roads

and earthworks, low cost housing, civil engineering and construction for the past twenty years. In

addition the group has interests in wine and olive production.

FINANCIAL

Annual turnover for the group stands at R900 million. With a strong balance sheet and R100

million guarantee facility we are able to take on projects from R5 million up to R500 million.

CIDB

Haw & Inglis Civil Engineering (Pty) Ltd has a 9CE/9GB grading and Haw & Inglis Projects (Pty)Ltd

currently has a 8GB grading which we are in the process of resubmitting for a higher (9GB)

grading. In certain cases we form joint ventures with appropriate companies to meet project

requirements. The scope and size of projects undertaken by the company are significant and

complex. Experienced and responsible teams with strong leadership are placed on each major

construction site.

STAFF

Haw & Inglis Projects (Pty)Ltd is managed by Marcus Minutelli who has 25 years experience in the

building construction, civils, road and earthworks industry. Other directors are Kevin Konkol and

Enzo Menegaldo. In addition to our present staff complement, site agents, contract managers,

quantity surveyors and foremen are available elsewhere in the group for redeployment as

necessary.

PLANT

Construction requires a significant investment in plant and equipment. The Haw & Inglis group’s

philosophy is to continuously rejuvenate its fleet with state of the art machinery, embodying the

latest technology. Care of this investment is critical to the company, necessitating plant workshops

staffed by qualified mechanics and service personnel. Haw & Inglis Projects (Pty)Ltd has batch

plants, ready mix trucks, dumpers, TLB’s compactors, mobile cranes, and tower cranes.

Formwork and scaffolding is available within the group and any excess requirements are met

through purchase or external hire.

4 SF Regiment provides South Africa its seaward Special Forces capability. The unit was

established in the coastal town of Langebaan, Saldanha in 1978. The regiment consists of three

operational commandos and a Special Forces amphibious and urban school. This contract consists

of two different components. One being the construction of a quay wall and the other the actual

building itself. The sequence of these two components is very important due to the proposed

building being located on the edge of the high tide water line. This necessitates the completion of

the quay wall before building work starts. Construction staff are ferried from Langebaan across the

lagoon to site on a daily basis. Material deliveries are made through the Postberg Section of the

West Coast National Park. Completion due in November 2011.

In April 2011 Haw & Inglis Projects moved onto site for the construction of the

submarine cable landing station for the West African Cable System. WACS is a high-

capacity cable that will connect SA with the UK when it goes live in mid-2011.

The 14,000km long fibre optic submarine cable system will effectively raise South Africa’s

current broadband capacity by over 500 Gigabits per second (Gbps). Spanning the west

coast of Africa and terminating in the United Kingdom, WACS will enable seamless

connectivity into the rest of Europe and America.
