Hi Polish and Turkish friends! We are your italian partners. We live in the south of Italy,

our region is Puglia.

Puglia is a wonderful region.

It is famous in the world for…

its beautiful sea

its monuments

its landscape

its delicious food

This is our coat of arms: there is a red heart among four towers.

The four towers were built in the Middle Age to defend Corato by enemy’s attacks.

There is the red heart because the italian word “Cuore”-heart in English-

is similiar at the name of Corato On the ribbon, there is our town motto:

it is in Latin “Core sine labe doli” and means” Heart without stain of betrayal”.

it was dedicated to Corato from Corradino of Svevia

We live in Corato, a big town In the north of Puglia, 50 km far from Bari.

There are almost 50,000 abitants.Its origin dates back in 3° century, when

Pietro the Norman occupied the few farmers’ houses and founded Corato

Corato is an old town. We have a beautiful old town centre. The buildings were made by stone.

Now here you can find many pubs and pizzerie

This is our town hall: it is in the centre of town. Inside there are

administrative offices and the major room.

In the past, it was a monastery

We are very religious people. In our town there are a lots of

churches. The most important Church is an old cathedral , dating back to the

1139.On the left facade’s side , there is

a belfry.

Inside, there are a lots of affrescos and a silver statue of our

patron “San Cataldo”

This church is near our school. It is a big church , that

rises in the town centre, next to the “city hall”.

Our Patron Sain is “San Cataldo”

We celebrate him in August, with a suggestive procession in

the streets

In our town, there is also a theatre, that has been modernized recently.

Infact, outside it looks old…. but inside it’s modern and new!

Here, wonderful shows are performed

Here, it is our public library, attended by a lot of children

Here you can find several old books.The oldiest was written between 1500 and

1600. it is called “Cinquecentina”In the library there is a big reading room

and at the last floor, also a room for conference and for the new books

presentations

We have a lot of squares in our town

This is «Cesare Battisti square»It is very big.

There are old buildings and many trees.

In this square there is also a big church

This is «Di vagno» square. There are many buildings and some palces where

the people spend its free time: pubs, pizzeria, etc

This is «Children ‘s square»There are some palnts, many old

buildings, shops and pubs.

This is «Plebiscito» square.In this square there are trees, flowers

and many buildings.There is a large statue of «Matteo

Imbriani», a very important man for our Country

cathedral

For our free time, we can go to the cinema:

In Corato, we produce a most famous and

good oil with our special oliva,

called “ La Coratina”

We produce flour and wine,

famous all over the world…..

Our town is very important for its products.

Our school

This is our school, «Cesare Battisti».It is a primary school,

and it is a part of a bigger Institute, that includes a kindergarden

and a Secondary school.This year , in our Primary school,

we have sixteen classes, about three hundred students, aged between 6 and 11 years.

In our school , there are:

a science lab;an English lab;

an informatic lab;a gym;

an auditorium

Here we are happy because we use the

It is a big room with twenty –four computersand chairs.

There is a big L.I.M, too.Here, we spend an hour for week.

She is our headmistress. Her name is Grazia Maldera.

She is very good and beautiful . She is tall and normal, her eyes are brown and her hair is brown and

short. She likes dancing, reading, going to

the cinema, going to the seaside and buyng clothes.

She is our headmistress from eight years.

She is Grazia Ferrucci.She teaches English in 4° A/B/C and 5°

B. She is tall, thin, young and very

smiling!She has got curly short hair and

brown eyes.She is thirty six years old.

She’s got black eyes and short hair.She is forty-four years old ashe lives in

Corato.She is very nice and good.

She is a championess!!She teaches in 4° D and in 4° E

She is Teresa Fascicolo, but we call her “Titty”.She lives in Corato, she teaches Italian, art, geography, science, hostory, misic and

English in the 5° A.She is forty-seven years old, she is tall and thin. She has got long and brown hair,

and brown eyes.She wears pink glasses.

She usually wears jeans, nice shirts, pullovers and trendy necklaces.Her favourite colour is blue, her favourite hobby is running.she is kind and always

happy.Her voice is low but sweet. She is a very good and we love her!!!

This is our typical day at school.

We spend all the days of the week at school, from Mondays to Saturdays.

The lessons start at 8:15 a.m and finishes at 1:15 p.m.We don’t have lunch at school, but at 10:15 we have a short break for

20 minutes.

Only one class, the 4° C, has lesson from Monday to Friday. For these students, the lessons start at 8:15 a.m and finish at 4:15 p.m

They have lunch at school!

These are the subjects that we study: Italian, history, geography, math, science, i.t., p.e, music, art, religion, social studies….and English!!!!!!
