OPITO-approved Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) Overview This three-day course provides participants with a range of knowledge and skills relevant to travelling offshore by helicopter and working offshore. Participants will gain a basic level of understanding and awareness of the hazards and associated risks encountered when working on offshore installations and of the safety regime and safety management systems in place to control and mitigate those hazards. The BOSIET will also equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond appropriately in the event of an offshore emergency and to improve the likelihood of survival through proper use of emergency equipment and procedures. Course structure The course is a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, during which participants will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the course content. Course content safety induction Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS) fire safety and basic firefighting survival first aid helicopter safety and escape survival at sea. Prerequisites At least 16 years of age. Target audience All personnel seeking employment on an offshore installation. Certification An OPITO-approved Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course. Revalidation Every four years.   • OPITO-approved Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET)

    OverviewThis one-day course is designed to meet further emergency training requirements for oil & gas industry personnel. Participants will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training course content.

    Course structureParticipants will be given further training to enhance and complement their existing knowledge of the hazards encountered when working on offshore installations. Course content helicopter safety and escape fire fighting and self-rescue emergency first aid

    Prerequisites This one-day course must be undertaken by individuals who have a valid BOSIET or TBOSIET, or FOET or TFOET certificate. The FOET certificate revalidates a delegates offshore emergency training for a further 4 years.

    Target audiencePersonnel who have attended a Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) course and wish to maintain their current certification.

    CertificationAn OPITO-approved Further Offshore Emergency Training certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course.

    Revalidation Every four years.

  • OPITO-approved Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET)

    OverviewThis half-day course provides personnel who travel by helicopter with an understanding of helicopter escape procedures and, in particular, action to be taken to evacuate or escape from a ditched/capsized helicopter.

    Course structureDelegates are introduced to HUET training in a theoretical manner which is supplemented by demonstration and participation.

    Course content Action prior to ditching Actions following simulated ditching including submersion and inversion of helicopter Deployment and operation of Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS) Helicopter emergency procedures

    Prerequisites At least 16 years of age.

    Target audiencePersonnel who travel by helicopter over water. It is also suitable for personnel who have taken survival training that did not include helicopter underwater egress training.

    CertificationAn OPITO-approved Helicopter Underwater Egress Training certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course.

    Revalidation Every four years.
