Booster Cooler
General informationThe Booster Cooler’s function is to keep the internal air of the electrical room at the defined temperature. The Booster Cooler is not designed for cooling of the accommodation but for unmanned spaces. For example, at electrical rooms or other unmanned spaces where the crew occasionally visits for maintenance. To avoid overheating the Booster Cooler extracts air e.g. from the electrical room and cools the air to its set point temperature.
The Booster Cooler is suitable for military vessels due to the following characteristics:• compact design• low noise• electronic magnetic control (EMC)• shock qualification MIL-S-901

4. General Description BC
This chapter gives a general description of the BC itself and components which are installed inside the BC.
4.1. General Unit Description
The BC function is to keep the internal air of the electrical room in the defined temperature set point of +18 °C ± 1 °C. The electronics room where the BC operates is in principle an unmanned space. The maintenance crew occasionally visits the electronics room. To avoid overheating of this room, the BC extracts air from the electronics room and cools the air. To cool the air to the defined state of +18 °C ± 1 °C, the heat-exchanger uses 500 liter cooling water per hour and cools it white a cooling capacity of 2.86 kW.
