Seasoned Beams

Well suited to applications where movement must be kept to a minimum but the cost of joinery timber is not justified, or where an aged look is required. The beams are air dried in square sections for 1-3 years on average and can then be sawn to other sections as required. 100mm is the minimum thickness the beams can be sawn to while maintaining structural soundness.

Grade overview Ungraded production containing knots, sap content and other natural features. Drying splits and shakes develop during the seasoning period and can be quite substantial especially on larger sections. Providing the beam is structurally sound these are not considered a defect. Seasoned Beams are not recommended as suitable for Joinery applications.

Moisture content Variable. Between 30-50% (average)

Waney Edge Boards Prime GradeAir dried

Air Dried stock is seasoned naturally to achieve a moisture content relative to the outdoor environment. This makesit well suited to external applications such as gates, exposedexternal doors and balustrades. Due to the controlled and gradual seasoning process, Air Dried can be produced in Prime Grade up to 200mm thick, providing unrivalled quality for such large sections.

Grade overview Prime Grade Air Dried Waney Edge boardsprovide cuttings to the equivalent of Square Edge PrimeGrade, although Air Dried timber often shows splitting across the timber surfaces as a result of the natural seasoning process. This is not to be considered a defect. European Grade QB1A.

The boards will mostly be clear from defect enabling clear joinery sections to be produced or sections cut which may contain sound defects to be turned to an unseen face or cut around. Estrato Engineered Oak floorboards offer a quality alternative to a solid floor where increased stability is required, for instance over under floor heating.

A 5.5mm solid Oak layer will allow for repeated sanding and finishing to ensure longevity comparable to a solid floor. The square shoulder on these boards will provide very tight looking joins and a very smooth overall floor finish. Square shouldered boards are easier to resand at a later date should you wish to renew the finish entirely at any point.

Our delivery vehicles serve a broad area on a regular basis.

When placing an order, our sales staff can advise you as to the earliest delivery date possible. This is usually: 2-4 days on selected orders 4-6 days on sawn and machined orders 5-10 days on fresh sawn/seasoned beam orders

It is our aim to deliver all orders over £500 (inc VAT) free of charge. For orders under this value, or if you are far from our regular delivery routes, charges may apply. Our sales staff will advise any charges at quotation / order stage.


Delivery


If you wish to collect from our yard we will be glad to prepare your order for you. Please place orders at least a day in advance, thus allowing us to keep to schedule and provide the best service we can.

Yard collections without prior arrangement command a 5% surcharge on all prices.
