Since theyear2010, employment rates have witnessed dynamic growth.Thenumberofpeopleemployedhas risenbyabout sevenpercent, with German naKonals seeing a five percentincrease and foreign worker numbers rising by around 31percent.Currently,twelvepercentofthoseemployedareofforeignnaKonality–anaboveaveragefigureincomparisontothewholeofGermany.

DualvocaKonaltraining isthecentralpillaroftheeconomyin Hessen and corresponds to Hessen’s need for skilledworkers.Around40,000youngpeoplebeginthistraining invocaKonalschoolsandbusinessesannually.MINT sector professions (mathemaKcs, computer science,naturalscienceandtechnology)areasignificantareaofthedualtraining.In2014,atotalof35,900peopleweretrainedintheMINTsectorinHessen.Thatisathirdofalltrainees.Mechatronics engineers, plant mechanics, electronicstechnicians,ITspecialists,andwarehouselogisKcsspecialistsareexamplesofdual trainingprofessions. InHessen, theseprofessionsarecurrently inhighdemandintheautomoKveindustry, the logisKcs and engineering sectors aswell as inthemetalandelectrical industries.Thisresulted inahighernumberofnewcontractsintheyear2014.
