“Holiday Heroes’ mission is to provide joy and normalcy to children who are critically, chronically or

terminally ill and we do that by throwing themed hospital parties. Over the last decade, Holiday Heroes’ has become an established partner for Chicagoland hospitals with a growing national footprint. Through

our proven model, we will continue to deliver in an expanded capacity.

Whether these families have traveled 1,000 miles or live two blocks from the hospital, they are adjusting to a new normal outside the comfort of their own home. Seeing their child in the hospital, some fighting for their life, has caused tremendous anxiety, sadness, anger, worry, and exhaustion in their family life.

Every day is a challenge and, for some, a fight for just one more day with their child. These families are juggling time in the hospital with caring for their other children, growing medical expenses, and their

careers. They are seeking encouragement, joy, financial and emotional support, and a sense of normalcy, as they grasp for structure and a way for their child to feel like a normal kid.

Through our program, the children and caregivers get to escape. We create an oasis in the playroom or activity room where these children can just feel like “normal” kids again. It’s a chance for them to see they are not alone and there are other kids just like them who are also facing a battle. The parents and

caregivers get to see a smile on their child’s face as they interact with the costumed characters and Holiday Heroes staff. It is a magical experience for all involved.
