Holy Trinity is a Grade II listed building which was originally built as a proprietary chapel in 1847. It became a parish church in 1899 and, with the addition of a nave, took its present form in 1914. It has a Daniel Cottier ‘Arts and Crafts’ stained glass window, and Italian mosaics on the chancel floor.

The famous writers associated with Leamington came here because of its fame as a spa town, which people visited not only for their health but also for entertainment. For writers like Dickens a spa provided an opportunity to make contact with readers and to make money. Our tour will take in places where writers lived, performed or just relaxed.

Set in eight acres of parkland this ancient location is where the legendary Guy of Warwick lived and died as a hermit. The site was also a Saxon Hermitage dating from the mid 6th century and is of geological scientific interest with prehistoric fossil on cliffe-side. Guy’s Cliffe Ruin with 15th century St. Mary Magdalene Chapel is currently being used as a Masonic Temple.
There is no need to book and on site parking and refreshments are available.

Come and explore the fascinating history of Guy’s Cliffe walled gardens, dating from the 1770s and supplying the Guy’s Cliffe estate until the 1940s. Work began six years ago to restore the Garden, using plans from the early 19th century. The garden layout has already been reinstated, and the beds once more planted with fruit, flowers and vegetables including many heritage varieties. The garden has a very relaxed and inviting feel for visitors of all ages.

Designed and built by Francis Smith in 1725, the Court House is nestled in the heart of Warwick steps away from Warwick Castle and St. Mary’s Church. The Court House replaced a medieval tavern and is one of the few buildings which survived the Great Fire of Warwick in 1694. The Court House now operates as a venue for private events and weddings.
Warwick Town Council volunteer group, Unlocking Warwick will host tours of The Court House at 11am and 2pm.

Medieval Warwick half-timbered gem with a 500 year-old garden.A fine example of English medieval courtyard architecture. Formerly the home of the Guilds of Warwick from the 1300s until the Tudor age when Lord Dudley, Earl of Leicester founded a place of refuge for wounded warriors who fought for Queen Elizabeth I. Today it is a working charity, open to the public for events, tours and visits.
Tours are restricted to 25 people on a first come first served basis, visitors can sign up at the start of the day.

The Old Shire Hall’s history dates back to the 15th century when it was home to Warwick Assizes. In 1542 the County Gaol moved to Northgate Street and Shire Hall followed. In 1694 the Great Fire of Warwick tore through the town and between 1753 and 1754 it was completely rebuilt to include courtrooms, a Gaol and Military Barracks. The Judges’ House was built between 1814 and 1816, with Crown court sessions held as recently as 2010.

Set in 19 acres of pastureland, a castle lost for hundreds of years: The original building is believed to have been constructed on the site in the 11th century, at the time of King Henry I. The present castle is thought to have been built sometime in the 1380s by Sir William Bagot, a distinguished nobleman of the time. He is thought to have entertained Richard II there. The castle subsequently passed through several hands and eventually became derelict in the 16th century. David Hewer became Custodian of Bagot’s Castle in 2005. In November 2011 restoration works were completed to consolidate the remains of the ruin.

The gardensinclude herbaceous borders, sculpted yews and an 18th centurygentleman’s kitchen garden with herbs, flowers and vegetables.

A secluded, intimate estate set in the heart of the Forest of Arden with 500 years of fascinating and unexpected stories. The house was sanctuary not only for the Ferrers family, who owned Baddesley Clinton for over 500 years, but also for persecuted Catholics who were hidden from priest hunters in its secret hiding places during the 1590s.Visitors can find out about four powerful women who lived at Baddesley Clinton as part of our ‘Voice.Activism.Faith’ programming.

The original small chapel, built in 1774, is reliably assumed to be the current Sanctuary. The new chapel was opened in 1849 by Bishop Nicholas Wiseman. The church was the first Catholic parish church to be built in the diocese since the reformation. St Anne’s was completely renovated and refurbished between January and September 2014.
Mass will be celebrated as usual at 8.30am on Sundays 15, 22 September.

Built in 1216 so that residents could attend church when the river crossing to Wappenbury was flooded.
The church was constructed with Ashlar sandstone with Victorian additions and a wooden bell tower. The West wall consists of a huge exterior buttress and a long pointed light containing the Millennium window. The font is white sandstone from the 14th century.
The church is rural in delightful countryside.

A tranquil rural setting dating back to 1146 and the Knights Templars, with 17th century endowments for church, almshouses and a school by the grand-daughters of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester. The church was restored in 19th century by Sir George Gilbert Scott, and the composer of ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary’ is buried in the nearby cemetery.

A chance to visit this Grade I listed Norman church dating from the 12th century with exceptional stained glass windows and surrounded by an award winning churchyard. Bells were hung in the church tower in the early 1600s and have been rung regularly ever since.(Image courtesy of Anne Langley)

There has been a church on the site since Saxon times. The present church was re-built in the 1840s with the exception of the tower which is 14th century. It has a ring of six bells. Careful examination of the tower’s exterior shows bullet holes left during the Civil War. In the churchyard lies buried Joseph Arch (1826-1919) who was born in a nearby cottage. He founded the National Union of Agricultural Labourers. His tomb is marked with an obelisk.
