KENMERK: H/Br/051 DATUM: September 16, 1974
Dear Dr. Sitko,
It was a pity that I could not meet you when you were in Holland for
a day some time ago.
Mr. Damman already informed you on our organization Netherlands
-United States, which is in an excellent position to promote your
bicentennial project. I enclose a folder, while under separate cover
I have sent you another 10 copies.
To speed up the process of communication between you and me,
I have given Mr. Damman the names of the boardmembers, which
he passed on to you in his letter of 9th September. This board could
act for the time beh'g as a 12.rovisional committee, as we may l:..av.J
other members in our organisation who may be more qualified to
·promote your activities in this country.
We shall be delighted to accept your invitation to come to Washington
with a small group at the end of October. Unfortunately I shall not be
able to come as I have to be in Moscow and Vienna at that time.
However, I hope to be in the U.S. for a few weeks in April, 1975
and no doubt we shall have time then to discuss all the necessary
details.
The four boardmembers who will come are:
1. Mr. P. !edema
2. Mr. H.G. Groenewald
· 3. Mr. H. J. Hergarden
4. Mr. H. Pors

In order to promote your project in the most efficient way, I would like to know
whether you have approached any other organisation or institution in the Netherlands
for this purpose.
I am in close contact with the embassy of the U.S.A. in this country. I shall
inform them on my dealings with you.
Hoping that we shall be able to develop a successful cooperation in this most
valuable effort, I remain,

Dear Dr. Sitko:
April 9, 1974
The White House has asked me to answer your letter of March 15 in which you outlined your program to Mrs. Anne Armstrong. I should also like to take this opportunity to answer your letter to me dated March 16.
I am, of course, prepared to meet with you in late May but would like to have some idea as to what officials you have in mind, if you have any specific names to propose.
As for officials with whom you might be in touch in Paris, London and Rome, I suggest that you meet with the appropriate officials oi the United States Information Service in each city. The public affairs officer or the cultural affairs

Dear Dr. Sitko:
Your letter of January 23 to Mrs. Armstrong has, as you know, been sent to me for reply. I believe that either Mr. William Butler or Miss Jane Shay might be able to advise you what kind of material might be available to foreign visitors in 1976. I gave Mr. Butler's name and telephone number to Mr. Donald Miller when he called me recently.
It might also be useful for you to be in touch with Mr. c. P. Austin of the United States Travel Service as they may have or know of materials which might be designed for use by foreign visitors. He can be reached on 967-4853.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the officers and members of your society for contributing to the success of our 1974 STERNE DER HEIMAT on October 5, 1974 at the Eagles Ballroom.
.. · ·~·
without the help and attendance of the members of our various organizations both at their respective meetings, functions and combined festivities, the German heritage in our country will rapidly decline.
With the conclusion of STERNE DER HEIMAT, we really begin a new year for the German-American Societies of Milwaukee. We can look forward to 1975 with many things to do. At this moment, we must all be aware of 1976 and our countries Bi-centennial Celebration.
The Bi-centennial Committee in Washington has information that 200,000 Germans are going to visit us and many are coming to Milwaukee. Mayor Maier has a BiCentennial Committee which has been organized to coordinate all Milwaukee activities. we, as members of our various club~ are part of that plan. we have been asked to come up with a master plan for all German activities for 1976. Therefore, please send me the projected dates for dances, concerts fests, picnics, soccer games, anything to which you would welcome visitors from Europe.
Milwaukee is really one of the leaders in ethnic functions, therefore, we will all have to work together to insure the cooperative spirit which has always existed among us.
I hope that I can count on your continued assistance .. and cooperation.
Cordially yours,
Kenneth F. Pedersen President
