HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING AT F.W. WEBB. . .

After spending time traveling the Northeast, I know many of you have lots of business booked, so I thought I’d remind you one last time to make sure you’ve made adjustments for price increases and, most recently, the water heater code change. I’m only assuming some of these upcoming jobs, were supposed to happen earlier this year prior to any price changes. And while on change, hopefully you know the water heater change wasn’t only price but in most cases it’s altered the physical dimension of the heaters. So, where heaters “use to fit”, they may not any longer. Two quick examples might be mobile homes or condos; so be aware of the possible need for retrofitting before you give a quick price.

Vermont Expo: May 7, 2015 The trade shows are winding down but there are still a few more worth attending. From my perspective, the one worthy of taking an entire day is our 22nd Vermont Expo. (I may be a little bias.) This year’s show is in a new location: Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vermont. Also the actual show hours have changed and are from 2:00–7:00 p.m. From the surveys we’ve done, this appears to be more accommodating to your schedules. Some of the training has been adjusted, so you can conveniently attend multiple classes; several qualify for your state CEU requirements and some are NORA certified. The first class begins at 10:00 a.m. with the last series starting at 3:00 p.m.

Here is a listing of training:

• Vermont Plumbing Code – including carbon monoxide training

• Honeywell – connected solutions, oil/gas controls and IAQ

• Fields on Indoor Air Quality – Rinnai Level III tear down training

• WaterSoft Advanced training – includes sizing, repair and troubleshooting

• Bosch Greenstar – installation live firing training

• Duct sizing for gas furnaces

• Daikin residential ductless single and multi-split systems

Here are the remaining shows:

• The OESP Show, May 19-20 at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, in Hershey, PA

• The NEFI Energy Expo, June 10-11 at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA

As you know, rebates are still available in some states, and you should make sure your customers are aware of them. Untold, it could cost you the job. If you have any jobs quoted, make sure the product you’ve quoted is available. Once again, here’s a rebate summary:

• Pennsylvania – $300 mail-in rebate, until 5/31/15

• Vermont – Instant $550 discount from Efficiency Vermont at our counter, until 6/30/15

I know that I continue to mention this, but from what we’re experiencing in our showrooms, consumers are spending money and moving away from the basics. There will always be the budget-conscious consumer, but there seems to be a growing trend of discretionary buyers, too! These are the ones who want to see products before they make the purchase and are willing to spend extra money. Many come from the “boomer” generation that are planning “age in place.” They want to plan for independent living and still be able to have the luxury of new designs. If you haven’t visited one of our 37 Frank Webb’s Bath Centers and discussed how they can help you better serve your customer, you may be missing a great opportunity. They really are there to help you better serve your customer.

Well I guess this is enough for now, but after this long winter, I expect you’ll enjoy a very busy spring and summer. There seems to be a lot of demand in the market and we’re actually beginning to see residential construction again. So, as always, we appreciate your business and welcome your input.
