“It is wonderful to be able to work in remote and wild places, and I thoroughly enjoy sharing my love and passion for the wilderness. I find it very satisfactory to be able to give people an experience beyond their imagination, showing respect for nature, wildlife and the people we may encounter along the way.My local knowledge, network and contacts, together with my experiences with expeditions, equipment and necessary preparation needs is the key to a successful trip. There are many pieces to the puzzle and making them all fit is what I aim to deliver, whether independently as part of a team.”

Henrik Løvendahl first commenced employment with Greg Mortimer and Aurora expeditions as their Dive Guide in 1998. During this period, he introduced an optional scuba diving program for Aurora’s Antarctic voyages. Impressively, this was the first of a dive trip to the Antarctic for recreational divers. Not surprisingly in a short space of time, Henrik surged forward in his career, becoming a highly qualified Expedition Leader and Dive Guide in both the Arctic and Antarctic.

To-date Henrik has had an amazing life-journey whilst remaining focused on world discovery and has travelled extensively to far-reaching and remote corners of the world; scaled Andean peaks, trekked in the Himalayas and dived in many exotic locations. As a qualified PADI Dive Master & Instructor, Henrik has developed a great respect for the Polar Regions when facing the challenges of ice diving. Henrik has managed to combine his qualifications, experience and adventurous nature as well as interspersing his working life with protracted periods of outdoor recreational activities including hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rock-climbing and mountaineering.

Over a twenty-five year period of working with highly respected organisations including World Expeditions, PolarQuest, Aurora Expeditions, Green Dog and PADI, Henrik has had the opportunity of being the Expedition Leader on ship-based cruises to Papua New Guinea, Antarctica, Northeast Greenland and Svalbard. In addition to this, Henrik has led trekking and mountaineering trips in the Himalayas. Henrik also spent 3 months living on South Georgia working for the South Georgia Heritage Trust, assisting at the Museum and gift shop. Recently, Henrik spent a winter in Svalbard working as a dog handler and dog sled guide for Green Dog. This treasured experience built exciting memories and presented priceless opportunities whilst exploring and embracing the grand nature of the island.

As an Expedition Leader Henrik has, over the years, developed an appreciation for taking people to new, uncharted territory and places filled with unpredictability, uncertainty, change and mystery. His love of the ocean and of locations at the extremes of the planet has resulted in a wealth of knowledge about the environment, ice, wildlife and history of these special places which he delights in sharing with the members of his expeditions.

Professionally, Henrik has a background and trade qualifications as an Electrician and has held various managerial placements which has developed a sound business mind and an appreciation for client’s expectations.
