The Current State of Affa ir s

● 33% of all college freshman in 8 industrialized countries (representing 14,000 students) now meet the full criteria for at least one mental health disorder. (World Health Organizations, 2018)

● 30% rise in students seeking appointments at counseling centers between between 2010-2015 even though student enrollment grew by only 5 percent during that time. (CCMH, 2016)

● 33% of students reported feeling so depressed at some time in past year that it made it difficult for them to function. (Chronicle of Higher Ed, 2016).

● 34% of college students who were being seen in counseling centers in 2016-2017 reported that they had “seriously considered attempting suicide” (CCMH survey, representing 147 colleges/universities and 161,000 students, 2017)
