Thank You for Changing Lives!

Dear Life-Changer, Summer is drawing to a close and we’re now preparing for the Fall. Over 250,000 meals will be served to people in need by the end of the year. Hope often begins with a meal and often one meal will lead to a transformed life. Help us with our annual “Pack the Pantry” food drive campaign. This is a great project for your place of worship, business, school, club or organization. It’s so rewarding to see what young people are doing; school kids, college students, and young adults are becoming more involved in helping the homeless at our Centers in Miami, Hollywood, and Pompano Beach.

Together, we are serving more than 1,300 men, women, and children each day. Hundreds are enrolled in our residential programs. In fact, last year 750 men and women graduated our programs, found employment, and housing. YOU make this all possible!

All God’s best to you andyour loved ones,

Roberta is Joyful I moved to Florida and had a great job and nice place to live. I lost my job and was struggling

financially. I moved in with a friend but she really had no space for me. I ended on the street for a while, until a woman informed me about Broward Outreach in Hollywood. I started with the overnight emergency stays and meals. I told myself that I was not going back to the streets and homelessness was not an option, so I applied for the residential program and got in. I went through the intake process, including education and mental testing. In the beginning, it was not fun being around a lot of women all the time, but I conditioned my mind to keep my goals to become independent again. I had a wonderful case manager who laid all the ground work with goals. We met once a week to make sure that I was reaching my goals. I attended many classes to help me transition back into society. With joyfulness, I got a job, saved money, and obtained housing. I know things from both sides. I volunteer to help others become independent. I want to thank the staff and all the volunteers who helped me so much.

MIAMIFORT LAUDERDALE

Back to School Summer Bash for KidsOn August 4th, the Miami CoverGirls hosted a Back to School Summer Bash to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year for the children we serve. Yordana Zarut, from “Young Dreams Community Outreach”, and her team at Perry Ellis provided food & refreshments, water fun activities, backpacks, school supplies, new sneakers, and a bounce house. Music was sponsored by DJ Rafa 305. The moms were grateful and the children had tons of fun. Our CoverGirl Elle, from Kind Birthdays, joined the festivities by hosting a special celebration for any child whose birthday was in August.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity!
