Transcript of Help for those in need came in leaps and bounds in

Help for those in need came in leaps and bounds in2019! Our work is powered by relationships, and thisyear was another reminder that we can accomplishgreat things when we work together.

Each year, we set new goals that will surpass the last. This ambition propels us forward as we find newpathways for connecting people, resources and food.Working with our partner agencies, we delivered morethan 29 million pounds of food across our 33-countyservice area - an 8% increase from 2018. Ourrelationships with local food pantries, schools, shelters, senior centers and other communityagencies allowed us to continue providing direct aid tothose in need. This network of partners, with theirknowledge and proximity to families across our region,is invaluable to our work.

Our volunteer program is another powerful example ofhow relationships fuel our work. The individuals whodonate their time and talents for supporting Foodbankoperations, whether that’s in the warehouse, throughout the office or at our community events, ensure that our vision is within sight.

This year also marked the beginning of our $4.1million Bridging Hope Capital Campaign, a campaignthat will fund the construction of a 22,000 sq. ft.packaging and processing center for volunteers at the

Donald W. Reynolds Distribution Center in LittleRock next year. With the new volunteer center, wewill be able to accept and process two million morepounds of donated food each year plus quadrupleour capacity to engage volunteers. These volunteerhours will save us more than $800,000 a year.

The staff and board of directors at ArkansasFoodbank continue to be inspired by the generosityour donors and community partners provide eachyear. Without their financial investment, the 280,000Arkansans we aim to serve in our region wouldcontinue struggling to make ends meet. Nothing canmeasure our gratitude for your sacrifice on behalf ofour hungry neighbors.

We’re grateful for another year of support from you — our community. As we manage day-to-dayoperations to feed hungry people, we continue tokeep our eyes on the future. We know that with youby our side, we can continue having a positiveimpact on the lives of those experiencing hunger incentral and southern Arkansas.

NOTE: Financials include the value of donated food. Donatedproduct on hand at year-end is valued at the national wholesalevalue of one pound of food, as determined by the most recentstudy conducted by Feeding America. Food donations anddistributions of donated product are recorded at the weightedaverage wholesale value in effect during the year. TheInformation in this summary was excerpted from our completeaudited financial statements, which are available on our websiteand upon request.
