Interview Formats

Heider Fellows Program –  Two 15-minute interviews with faculty,

alumnus and current student

–  One 35-minute panel interview with faculty, alumnus and current student

Phone Interviews –  One 30-minute interview with a Heider

representative

•  Know what is on your resume •  Discuss involvement, leadership, service and how you

are a fit for scholarship or program •  Prepare questions to ask interviewers •  Thank interviewers for their time •  For more tips, visit business.creighton.edu/interviewing

Interview Tips: General

•  Wear Business Professional Attire •  Be Sure to Bring:

-  Copies of your resume -  A list of prepared questions -  Pen, paper and Heider College of Business leather portfolio

•  Practice Common Business Etiquette •  Have a firm handshake, make eye contact, and use titles like

Mr., Mrs., Ms. or Dr.

Interview Tips: On Campus

•  Dress as if you are interviewing in person •  Stand while speaking •  Set up in a quiet place, free from distractions •  Have resume in front of you •  Landline vs. Cell Phone

Case Study Review the case study for: 1. Christina M. Hixson Scholarship in Business 2. Ethics & Social Responsibility Scholarship This year’s Tanaka Case Study can be viewed online at: business.creighton.edu/theweekend (Click on “Scholarship Competition”)

•  Read the entire case study multiple times •  Write notes, questions or thoughts as you read •  Identify the most important ethical issues

in the case •  Determine key issue(s) for each perspective •  Select the best resolution to the ethical dilemma

based on the different perspectives •  Be prepared to provide moral reasoning for your

chosen resolution

Case Study Tips: General

•  Wear business professional attire •  Have in mind two or three perspectives you want

to present •  Each team member should participate in the

presentation •  Focus on ethical reasoning as the foundation for

your recommendations •  “Save” slides often!

Case Study Tips: Presentation

•  Identify ethical implications for each of the 8 perspectives

•  Discuss 3 conflicting perspectives •  Present a resolution for the ethical issue •  Provide moral reasoning for your selected

resolution

Case Study Tips: Paper

•  Papers should be 2-3 pages in length •  Heading must include full name, date of birth and

full mailing address •  Use proper grammar and spell check •  Save and submit as a PDF •  Submit by 5PM CST on Wednesday,

January 25 to [email protected] •  One ethics paper qualifies for both scholarships

•  Applicants are assigned teams to evaluate the various perspectives of case study

•  Teams are led by current students who will help “coach” the competitors

•  Teams will present to a panel of judges including faculty, alumni and current students

January 15: FAFSA Due January 22-27: Phone Interviews January 25: Case Study Paper Due at 5PM CST February 1: Cortina & Freshman Leadership Program Chat, Hosted by Office of Admissions February 3: Ranking of all Special Programs Due February 15: Scholarship & program decisions will be mailed and available on your Student Portal
