“Mom, help me!”

That cry sends a mother into immedi-ate action! When you hear it, you drop what you are doing and run to help your child. In the same way, God hears your cries. Through faith in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, you have been made a child of God! And like a loving parent, he’s always there to give you his immediate attention. When you call out to him, he responds with powerful love and compassion!

You don’t need to pray in a certain way or in a certain place. You don’t need fancy words or impressive speeches. Just cry out, “God help me!” He promises to hear you, his precious daughter.

Every Mom Can Pray

Prayers for Moms

He’s Listening!

This is the confidence that

we have toward him, that if

we ask anything according

to his will he hears us.

1 John 5:14

Page 4: He’s Listening! Prayers for Moms · 2020-03-30 · You can come to God’s throne with confidence—no matter what! Jesus stands by your side as you offer your prayers to your heavenly

He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of

your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you.

Isaiah 30:19

Which one of you, if [your] son asks [you] for

bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a

fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are

evil, know how to give good gifts to your

children, how much more will your Father

who is in heaven give good things to those who

ask him!

Matthew 7:9–11

Whether a toddler with scraped knees or a teenager with a broken heart, when your child cries out to you, you listen! As a mother you want to give your hurting children the best possible care. But sometimes all you can offer is a bandage or a listening ear.

God hears your prayers, and he gives you much more than sympathy! Through Jesus, your heavenly Father heals souls. His comfort will help you get through pain and grief. He will strengthen you with his love and give you the peace of his forgiveness. When you call to him—in joy or in sadness—he hears!

Feed Your Prayers

Prayer takes energy; it is a spiritual exercise. Physical exercise requires fuel. We need to eat in order to run. Spiritual exercise requires fuel, too—spiritual fuel. The Lord feeds us through his Word. When we read the Bible on our own or study it with a group of other Christians, we are nourished. We are fed on the promises of Jesus’ love and forgiveness. God’s Word is powerful! It gives us the energy we need to make it over life’s hurdles.

Take time to indulge in God’s Word. Stop and eat—spiritually speaking, that is! Your Lord will give you the strength to pray. The Holy Spirit will work in your heart as you build a habit of prayer.

But [Jesus] answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not

live by bread alone, but by every word that comes

from the mouth of God.’”

Matthew 4:4

[Jesus] said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him.

Matthew 14:29–31

Jesus called Peter to get out of the boat and walk on water. The storm raged and so did Peter’s fears. As he was about to sink, he prayed for him-self. His words were few and simple: “Lord, save me!” Jesus grabbed Peter’s hand and held on to him.

Jesus will do the same for you! Whether your fears are overwhelm-ing or you are enjoying smooth sailing at the moment, Jesus wants you to pray for yourself.

Pray for Yourself

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness.

For we do not know what to pray for as we ought,

but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings

too deep for words. And he who searches hearts

knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the

Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will

of God.

Romans 8:26–27

And when you pray, do not heap up empty

phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that

they will be heard for their many words. Do not

be like them, for your Father knows what you

need before you ask him.

Matthew 6:7–8

Have you ever found yourself in a difficult situation, one that left you completely speechless? In times like these, it may seem nearly impossible to pray.

When hardships hit, don’t worry about which words to use. Just call out for help! Romans 8:26 promises that the Holy Spirit helps us in times just like that, in times when we don’t know what to say.

The Holy Spirit works on our behalf. He transforms our raw emotions into prayers that go before our father in heaven. Cry on God’s shoulder! He understands your wordless frustration, your silent sobs. Your heavenly Father knows what you need and he will help in ways you can’t even imagine!

When You Don’t Have the Right Words

A Prayer for Forgiveness

Dear Lord Jesus, I’ve been struggling with the sins of . . .

Your sacrifice on the cross has paid the price for my sins. Thank you for defeating sin and winning my salvation! I don’t have to hide my failures from you. I can pray with confidence because I am clothed in your perfection. I’ve been particularly concerned about . . .

Thank you, Lord Jesus! Amen.

You can come to God’s throne with confidence—no matter what! Jesus stands by your side as you offer your prayers to your heavenly Father. Jesus under-stands your weaknesses and temptations because he has lived through them himself. Jesus resisted sin for your sake. His sinless life and death on the cross paid the penalty for your sin. In Jesus, you are washed; you are clean; and you are forgiven! God wants you—as his perfectly forgiven child—to talk to him about everything!

When You Feel Too Ashamed to Pray

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympa-thize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
