Contrast (X-ray dye) is then injected into the artery while X-ray pictures are taken.
Arteriograms can accurately detect problems in blood vessels in and around the brain, lungs, heart, arms, legs, etc.

It may also refer to a tube used to temporarily holda passageway open to allow access for surgery.
