THE PROPOSED THAMES WATER UTILITIES LIMITED (THAMES TIDEWAY TUNNEL) DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER

Notice o issue-specic, open-foor and compulsoryacquisition hearinsNotice is hereby given that issue-specic, open-foor andcompulsory acquisition hearings will be held by the
Examining Authority (appointed by the Secretary o State)
or the examination o the application (the Application)
by Thames Water Utilities Limited or a developmentconsent order or the proposed Thames Tideway Tunnel
(the Project). The Application was made under section
37 o the Planning Act 2008 on 27 February 2013 and
accepted or examination by the Secretary o State
on 27 March 2013.
The Application relates to the construction and operation
o a wastewater storage and transer tunnel in London
which, together with shats, connection tunnels and
associated development, will enable the interception o
fows rom 34 existing combined sewer overfows (CSOs)and the transer o those fows or treatment in order to
tackle untreated sewage overfowing into the tidal River
Thames. The Project comprises the ollowing elements:
a) wastewater storage and transer tunnels between:
(i) Thames Waters existing operational sites at Acton
Storm Tanks in Ealing and Abbey Mills Pumping
Station in Newham (the main tunnel). The main
tunnel would run rom Acton Storm Tanks to theRiver Thames and then underneath the river as ar
as Rotherhithe, where it would divert to the north
east via the Limehouse Cut, terminating at Abbey
Mills Pumping Station;
(ii) King Georges Park in Wandsworth and theproposed main tunnel site at Carnwath Road
Riverside in Fulham (the Frogmore connection
tunnel);
(iii) Thames Waters existing operational site at
Greenwich Pumping Station and the proposedmain tunnel site at Chambers Whar in Southwark
(the Greenwich connection tunnel);
b) shats to be used or the construction, operation and
maintenance o the main tunnel and the Frogmore
and Greenwich connection tunnels;
c) CSO drop shats, short connection tunnels and
associated development or the interception o fowsrom existing CSOs and the diversion o those fows
into the main tunnel or the connection tunnels;
d) works to modiy Thames Waters existing Shad
Thames Pumping Station at Maguire Street in
Southwark, provision o a shat and modicationsto the existing sewer at Bekesbourne Street in Tower
Hamlets and works to drain the tunnels at Beckton
Sewage Treatment Works; and
e) Associated development to acilitate construction,
operation and maintenance o the tunnels and shatsdescribed above.

Compulsory Acquisition Hearings
Compulsory acquisition hearings will be held at the ollowing dates, times and locations:
Table 1 below identies the location o the sites where shats to be used or the construction and operation o the Project will be provided.
At each compulsory acquisition hearing, each aected
person is entitled (subject to the Examining Authority's
powers o control over the conduct o the hearing) to
make oral representations about the compulsory
acquisition proposals.
Further hearings may be held i the Examining Authority
decides, during the examination process, that they
are needed. The periods o Wednesday 22 January to
Tuesday 28 January 2014 and Monday 3 February to
Wednesday 5 February 2014 have been reserved orurther hearings. I urther hearings are required, then
they will be advertised by one or more urther notices.
In accordance with Rule 13(3) o the Inrastructure
Planning (Examination Procedure) Rules 2010, the
Planning Inspectorate will also notiy interested partiesand aected persons o the date, time and place xed
or each hearing.
It should be noted that agendas or each hearing will
only be published on the Planning Inspectorate, National
Inrastructure, Thames Tideway Tunnel project page (see
details below) o the Planning Portal website at least ve
calendar days beore the hearing is due to take place.
Detailed questions may also be published in the same
manner to support the agendas at these identiedhearings. Detailed times or the sessions will be identied
in the agendas or the hearings published on the Planning
Inspectorate, National Inrastructure, Thames Tideway
