PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Active Families These sessions are a great opportunity for families to try something new, get active and have fun as a whole family, and also a great chance for parents and childrento learn more about healthy eating.

Activities on offer include hula hoop, football,trampolining, swimming, badminton, street dance, baby yoga, healthy eating plus much more.Sessions take place weekly:• Southglade Leisure Centre, Bestwood

Sessions are suitable for all ages and will vary between leisure centres with new activities being introduced each week. Families do not have to stay for the whole2 hour session, they can drop in and leave when theylike. This project provides new and exciting freely chosenopen access play sessions which are diverse and child led.

Outdoor Gyms There are two outdoor gyms that have been installed inNottingham. They are suitable for all ages and abilitiesand are absolutely free to use.

Forest Recreation Ground:For families who want to be more active and get fit, thismulti-activity zone is a great place to start. The zone isgreat for young people but can be used by the wholefamily. There is a 13 piece outdoor gym, ball court area, horizontal climbing wall and a dance area.

Clifton:There are 12 pieces of outdoor gym equipment whichuse an individuals body weight as resistance, so exercisecan be made as gentle or as strenuous as the person wants it to be.

There is also outdoor gym equipment/trim trails at Strelley Recreation Ground, Chediston Vale Park, Bestwood, Independent Street Park, Radford, Robin Hood Chase and King Edward Park

Parks & Open Outdoor PitchesSpaces There are a wide variety of outdoor sports facilities

available at Nottingham City Council’s parks and openspaces.

The main sports catered for are football, bowls, tennis, cricket, fishing, boating, croquet, lacrosse, golf and pitch and putt, other sports are available on request.

To play tennis, bowls or to go boating families can justturn up, pay and play.

City for all ages. Sessions including orienteering, Junior Ranger Clubs-where activities such as planting trees / bulbs and tending to vegetable patches are undertook by children and young people.

50p Sports Scheme Offer

Sport, leisure, play and recreational activities availableat an affordable cost of 50p a day for all young peopleaged 8-15 years during the school holidays. This isavailable at the following leisure centres between 9amand 5pm: John Carroll, Noel Street, Southglade, Clifton,Portland, Harvey Hadden and Beechdale.

Coaching Camps

A variety of coaching camps take place within the Cityduring school holidays (not Christmas). They run from10am-5pm at the following leisure centres andcommunity sites:

Activities include: Trampolining, tennis, dance, football,swimming, scuba and snorkelling, gymnastics andathletics. All coaching camps are delivered by qualifiedcoaches.

Public Health Working across the City, the public health nutritionNutrition team, team aim to promote healthy eating and good nutritionCitiHealth, NHS for children and families. Nottingham City

Cook and Eat Courses ‘’Cook & Eat” courses run over 4-6 weeks and aim toincrease confidence and improve skills around cooking and healthy eating. The sessions give participants the opportunity to try new foods and cook healthier versions of traditional dishes for FREE.

Open College Network course in nutrition skillsA FREE course combining healthy eating training and practical cooking to achieve OCN Level 1 qualification. Often run as a follow on from Cook & Eat sessions.
