Prescription Drugs vs. Natural AlternativesB Y   J O H N G I B B   |   M E D I C I N E

With the lots of information we have, people can become educated more quickly. Now that

health and nutrition information is published in doctor's office, on television and radio, in Y3U

grocery stores, and on the Internet, people have the opportunity to become more informed.

You now have access to more varying opinions and open debates such as whether

prescription drugs or natural alternatives are better.

Being diagnosed with a serious condition (or illness) is probably one of the scariest

moments a person can experience in their life. Usually doctors give a prescription

medication and people begin their treatment quickly in fear of becoming sicker. However,

there are people who are trying something different. More and more people are

considering natural alternatives to prescription medication because many medications

prescribed for serious health conditions have side effects. Comparing natural alternatives

to prescribed medication can help you and your doctor determine which route is best for

you.

Those who defend natural alternatives believe that prescription medications go against

what the body really needs, but there is no concrete data that proves that natural

alternatives are better. However, it’s well known that the pharmaceutical industry and the

medical profession are close associates and that doctors often offer the latest drugs

(medication) and only a few of them consider natural alternatives. Until natural

alternatives are investigated and approved by organizations, such as the United States

Food and Drug Administration that oversee nutritional standards, the debate between

prescribed medication and natural alternatives will continue.

Why do people have the opportunity to become more informed nowadays?

Why have more people started considering natural alternatives?

According to the article, why don’t more doctors consider natural alternatives as a method of treatment?

Every child has heard the healthy-eating mantra "You are what you eat." But there may be a closer similarity between good-for-you food and your body than you thought. We found 10 foods that look like the body parts they provide nutrients for. Coincidence? Maybe. Though these healthy foods are beneficial to all the body, the list below is a fun reminder of what to eat to target specific areas.text adapted from: http://www.womansday.com/health-fitness/nutrition/advice/a1749/foods-that-look-like-body-parts-theyre-good-for-109151/
