Report opening of operation of COVID 19 wards/ICU toSPCB.Organise separate colour coded bins/bags/containers inwards and label these as COVID-19Segregate waste in colour coded bins as per Bio Medicalwaste Rules 2016.As a precaution double layered (2 bags ) be used for storagefor COVID waste.Use trained staff equipped with proper PPE for handlingthis waste.Use dedicated trolleys and containers for intramuraltransportation of COVID waste. Disinfect these with 1%hypochlorite solution daily.Store this waste in temporary storage room prior to beinglifted by CBWTF. Room to be marked as COVID 19. Waste canbe moved directly from ward to CBWTF transport if required.COVID waste must be collected minimum once a day fromthe healthcare facilities/ isolation wards. Maintain separate record of COVID 19 waste being generatedby your facility.

Provide training to all its health care workers andothers involved in handling of bio medical waste.Must ensure use of all PPEs by persons handlingCOVID 19 wasteProvide a safe, ventilated and secured location forstorage of segregated BMW within premises ofQuarantine facility.Provide legal authorization and access to Wastecollecting van/vehicle.

Ensure timely collection (atleast twice daily morning &evening) of BMW from Quarantine facilityHanding over of recyclable waste after treatment byautoclaving and incineration to authorized agenciesidentified by Government of India.Assist health care facilities in training of workers.Provide PPE kits and other safety measures to theirvehicle driver, collector, helper, safai karamchari.Issue authorized Identity card to all the personscoming to the Quarantine facility.
