Our 2014 20th Anniversary year was filled with blessings:

• We had a number of very successful events, includingour annual Golf Classic presented by Leidos BiomedicalResearch, Inc., in June and our annual gala,“The BubbleBall”, in November.

• We began Phase One of our Mercy on the MoveComprehensive Capital Campaign. Thanks to agenerous grant from the Kahlert Foundation, Inc.,we have received our new Mobile Medical Unit andlaunched it mid-February.

Along with our many blessings, we continue to meetour challenges with faith and hope. We have seen:

• The healthcare situation become increasinglyuncertain and costly.

• Many people sign up for The Affordable Care Act, butin order to get their monthly premiums to an affordablerate, they must choose a $4,000 - $6,000 deductible. This means they have to pay out-of-pocket until thatdeductible is met, making them essentially uninsureduntil a catastrophe strikes.

• Some patients who are eligible for Medicaid orMedicare are unable to find a practice that isaccepting new patients or their insurance.

Mission of Mercy is an important piece of the wholehealthcare picture. But in order to meet the needs andchallenges ahead, we must more than double the numberof people who love our mission and support us.

That’s why we’re launching our “Tell a Friend” program. We’re asking each of our supporters to share with at leastone friend or family member about M.O.M. Please seedetails in the newsletter about how you and your friendscan help us serve others.

We look forward to learning how we can work together togrow our important mission of healing through God’s Love.Thank you for your generous support throughout the years! You truly are one of God’s blessings to so many in need.

Sincerely,

THE $2 MILLION CAMPAIGN INCLUDES:

Dental care is a crisis in the U.S. Since dental services are not included inthe Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) or national medical assistance programs, many people cannot access affordable, let alone FREE, dental care.

At Mission of Mercy in Maryland/Pennsylvania, we have been offering freedental care alongside our medical care since 1995. We see patients every daywho need multiple extractions, have massive infections and periodontal disease, and are in excruciating pain - with no money to pay for their care.

Mission of Mercy wants to expand our program services and capacityso that we may serve more dental patients and alleviate the vast suffering.

Acquiring a multi-chair mobile dental unit will:

Provide a much more efficient clinical setting that offers doctors abetter working environment to serve patients, which will attractmore dental volunteers.

Offer operational efficiencies that will allow us to provide anestimated 20 - 30 patients per day with much-needed dentalcare (we currently average 8 - 10 patients each clinic day).

WBAL-TV News Segment Highlights Dental Clinic

Our dental program was highlighted in a news segment on Baltimore’sWBAL-TV. Reporter Deborah Weiner learned about our program this pastsummer, and was so moved she decided to visit the clinic to tell our story. She observed our long-time volunteer dentist, Dr. TL Llewellyn, as hecompassionately cared for a single mom, Sharon, who was in need ofhaving a tooth pulled. He eased her suffering and gave her peace of mind.

The segment, which aired in September, highlighted the crisis in dentalcare. To view our story, visit www.aMissionofMercy.org/Maryland-Pennsylvania and click on the News tab.

Thanks to grants from the Knott Foundation, the Baltimore Women’sGiving Circle, and the Kahlert Foundation, we have added a secondclinic day every month to serve more patients suffering with chronicillnesses and those with acute care needs.

“My life was miserable until I came to M.O.M. I had two decaying teeth that were infectedand split in half and needed to be extracted. I couldn’t eat, sleep or function. I was told

I had to pay $300/tooth out-of-pocket, which was out of the question!

“My primary care doctor saw how much pain I was in and recommendedMission of Mercy. I visited their Reisterstown clinic and was blown away by the

volunteers’ professionalism. Everyone was caring, attentive and tender. After being seen by the dentist I felt great – all the pain was gone.

“Now I’m able to resume my normal life. I hope to serve M.O.M. as a volunteerto give back to the people who showed me so much kindness and support.”
