SUMMARY OF UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL REPORT

1. The University Health Sciences expansion program projects

an increment from the current 3,000 health sciences stu

dents to 7,000 health sciences students by the mid-1980's.

II. The Health Sciences planning includes limited University

Hospitals expansion.

111. The proposed new University Hospital is designed to serve

as a clinical laboratory for the School of Dentistry,

College of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, School of Public

Health, and the College of Medicine. It will also serve

associated health professional programs.

IV. The proposed new University Hospital will not add beds to

accommodate the increment in students. The Health Sciences

expansion program assumes greater utilization of community

health resources.

V. Existing hospital facilities are required for the expan

sion of other units of the Health Sciences.
