What is Health Psychology?

Seeks the contributions in psychology of the mental, social and physical aspect of a human being.

Health Psychology generates careers between being a Psychology Teacher to being a Environmental Science Technician within the Health Field.

It encourage research within the biochemical issues pertaining to health and illness through psychological knowledge.

School Psychologists focus more so on education.

The processes of developing psychological skills, principles and techniques that are applicable for teaching and learning.

School Psychologists Duties

There main focus is filter out any and every learning discrepancy that an individual may or may not have.

They help children solve conflict and learn how to adjust.

Required to report any pertinent information to the proper authorities if there are any signs of abuse or neglect.

Promote an understanding of child development and how it relates to behavior and learning.

psychology programs offer coursework in health psychology. However,

• interested undergraduates can enhance their didactic experiences by seeking out or cultivating

• other opportunities. School clubs and volunteer opportunities

• Training: Similarly, different health psychology programs have different research emphases to exploring mechanisms of disease and to developing individual or population based interventions. The entry level psychologists researchers should have equipped knowledge base tactics and be able to apply them in the health field.

Division 9: Society of Psychological Study of Social Issues(SPSSI) Offers approximately 3,000 psychologists

and other scientists in different fields to pursue research within social issues of the public eye.

Activities: Conferences that are held in the summer, Unfornately they don’t offer any financial aid or tuition support.

Challenges: Depending on the type of memberships you are looking for, has different credential's. Full members have to have a postgraduate degree.

Full Members and Graduate Member have the right to vote.

The memberships varies from Full Member to Sustaining Member

Opportunities: The APA Division 9 has a yearly convention.

There are memberships available for all scientists, allied scientists and psychologists to improve within health, science, education and all problems we face today.

FORECAST JOB GROWTH

Job growth as of right now, cashiers and sales have the highest ranging at 6% of the U.S employment.

The employment levels are between 3.3 million and 4.6 million.In regards to industries, school-Health care and social assistance was the industry

sector with the largest employment in May 2013. Four major occupational groups made up about 77 percent of employment within this industry sector: healthcare practitioners and technical, healthcare support, office and administrative support, and personal care

and service. Registered nurses, nursing assistants, and personal care aides were the largest detailed occupations in the health care and social assistance sector, with about

2.3 million, 1.3 million, and 1.0 million jobs, respectively. The highest paid in the school psychologist profession work in the metropolitan areas of

Allentown, Pa., San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Boulder, Colo. The Birmingham, Ala. area also pays well, as does the city of Bakersfield, Calif. According to the BLS, school

psychologists earned a median salary of $67,650 in 2012. The best-paid earned about $109,340 while the lowest-paid earned less than $38,450.

State Board

Each licensed psychologist shall earn a minimum of 24 approved continuing education credits during each 2 year licensure period.

A minimum of 12 continuing education credits must be accumulated from Category A offerings and a maximum of 12 continuing education credits can be accumulated from Category B offerings. Psychologists can elect to earn all of their continuing education credits from Category A offerings.
