Health Services Industry Snapshot Essential Industry Transferable Skills The level of job satisfaction is like no other when I know that my actions positively contributed to my patients’ recovery. Jobs in the health services industry provide medical assistance to people. Health services employees work in hospitals, doctors’ offices, nursing homes, and medical labs. It is one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing industries—demand for jobs is expected to grow as the nation’s 80 million Baby Boomers approach retirement age. Experts say more than half of the fastest growing jobs in the U.S. in the next 10 years are in health services. Demand for health services workers in the Greater Phoenix area is expected to mirror the nationwide growth of these jobs. Depending on the health services career you choose, many states require health services employees to be certified in their profession. Speaking — Talking to others to effectively convey information. Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
