IMPORT LICENSE The consignment of animals shall be accompanied by a valid import license issued by the Director General (Extension), Livestock & Dairy Development Department, Government of the Punjab, Pakistan, permitting the importation of such animals into the Province of Punjab, Pakistan. 2. IDENTIFICATION OF ANIMAL The animals must be accompanied with identification number according to their individual ear tags issued by the veterinary officer of the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, India 3. VETERINARY CERTIFICATION The animals must be accompanied with a valid Veterinary Health Certificate written in English issued within seven (7) days of export by the veterinary officer of the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, India, certifying that: I. Sanitary information The undersigned official veterinarian certifies that the animal/s described above and examined on this day: 1. Shows/ show no clinical sign of disease: 2. Satisfies / satisfy the following requirements a. Are born and have been continually resident in exporting country. b. Parent and grandparent of the animal under import also originate from exporting country. c. Have never been fed with feed or ruminant origin. d. Are more than two months of age at the time of export. e. Female sheep and goats are not more than 3 months pregnant on the scheduled date of export and found suitable for transport. f. Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Scrapie are compulsorily notifiable diseases in exporting country and the country is free from TSE group of diseases.

Annexure-

HEALTH CERTIFICATE FOR THE IMPORTATION OF SHEEP AND

GOATS INTO PUNJAB PROVINCE PAKISTAN

A. Animal: Sheep and Goats B. Country of Export: India C. Purpose: Breeding/Food/etc

D. Regulations for importation:

1. IMPORT LICENSE The consignment of animals shall be accompanied by a valid import license issued by

the Director General (Extension), Livestock & Dairy Development Department, Government of the Punjab, Pakistan, permitting the importation of such animals into

the Province of Punjab, Pakistan.

2. IDENTIFICATION OF ANIMAL The animals must be accompanied with identification number according to their

individual ear tags issued by the veterinary officer of the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries , India

3. VETERINARY CERTIFICATION The animals must be accompanied with a valid Veterinary Health Certificate written in

g. The country is free from foot and mouth disease (Type O, A, Asia 1), Rinderpest,

Peste des petits ruminants, Contagious agalactia, Nairobi sheep disease, Border’s

disease and Rift Valley Fever.

h. The Sheep and goats have been drawn from a flock and establishment where

Blue Tongue, Ovine Epididymitis, Caprine/Ovine Brucellosis, Enzootic Abortion

(Chlamydiosis), Ovine Pulmonary Adenomatosis, Paratuberculosis (Johne’s

disease), Leptospirosis, Foot and Mouth Disease (Type O, A, Asia 1), Sheep &

Goat Pox, Aujeszhy’s disease, Q Fever, Contagious caprine pleuropneumonia

(CCPP) and Salmonellosis (S. abortus ovis) have not been reported during the last

two years.

i. During the past five years neither clinically nor serologically Maedi Visna was

diagnosed in sheep present in the flock of origin nor was sheep from flock of

inferior Health Status introduced into these flocks during this period.

j. The sheep have been held for at least 30 days immediately before shipment to

Punjab, Pakistan in quarantine premises approved and supervised by an

authorized Government Veterinarian of the exporting country.

k. Has/Have been subjected to examination for the following diseases with

negative result in each case within the last 45 days prior to entering the pre-

export quarantine and / or within the last 30 days prior to exportation while in

the pre-export quarantine:

l. While pre-export quarantine and not less than 14 days after any previous

treatment the animals were treated for:

i. Internal Parasites using broad spectrum anthelmintic according to

the manufacturers instruction:

ii. Liver Fluke using the Flukicides according to the manufacturers

instructions; and

iii. External Parasites (including Ticks) using the parasiticidal dip or spray

according to the manufacturers instructions.

m. While in the approved quarantine premises the animals were given two

injections of dihydrostreptomyin (25 mg per Kg of live weight) 14 days apart.

n. Within 48 hours of the sheep entering and leaving the pre-export quarantine

premises the animals were examined and found free from clinical evidence of

any infectious and contagious diseases and ectoparasites.

o. Has/Have not been vaccinated against Brucellosis.

p. Were protected from insect vectors during quarantine and transportation to the

place of shipment.

q. The animal(s) were transported in pens/containers from the approved

quarantine premises to the place of embarkation as well as pens in the aircraft

have been cleaned and disinfected before loading to government approved

standards.

POST IMPORT REQUIREMENTS:

1. On arrival in Pakistan the consignment and the documents will be examined by

the Regional Officer / Quarantine Officer.

2. The sheep and goats shall be kept under quarantine in Government Quarantine

premises for a period of 30 days. They shall be subjected to clinical examination

and other.

4. ARRIVAL IN PAKISTAN

Upon arrival at the approved entry point in Pakistan, all certificates and documents accompanying the animals must be surrendered to the Incharge Provincial Quarantine officer for verification and endorsement.

5. QUARANTINE IN PAKISTAN 5.1 Upon arrival in Pakistan, the animals shall be quarantined for a minimum period of

twenty one (21) days at the approved quarantine station. The first day being counted after the last animal has been admitted.

5.2 The animals during quarantine will be subjected to clinical examinations and

laboratory tests including ELISA test (NSP negative) for Foot and Mouth disease as and when deemed required by the Quarantine Officer in charge or by any

competent Veterinary Officer of the Livestock & Dairy Development Department,

Punjab province, Pakistan. 5.3 The animal shall be vaccinated (Primary 3) against FMD trivalent FMD vaccine (O, A,

Asia 1) during quarantine. 5.4 All feed and labor costs during quarantine as well as other quarantine costs in

Pakistan must be borne by the importer or owner of the animals. 5.5 All the animals shall be released on the 22nd days if found to be clinically healthy

and free from all infectious or contagious disease. 5.6 In case of any outbreak being detected amongst the animals in quarantine, the

quarantine period shall be extended as and when deemed required by the Quarantine Officer in charge or by any competent Veterinary Officer of the

Livestock & Dairy Development Department, Punjab province, Pakistan.

6. TRANSPORTATION The animals from the quarantine station shall be moved in sealed wagons or sealed

lorry to the approved holding yard, under the supervision of Livestock & Dairy Development Department, Punjab province, Pakistan, supervision.

7. OTHER CONDITION

7.1 The importer or owner of the animals or in case if the import is medicated through agents must be registered with the Livestock & Dairy Development Department,

Punjab province, Pakistan. 7.2 The importer or owner of the animals or their agents must inform the quarantine

officer in charge of the quarantine station where the animals are to be quarantined the number of animals to be imported, expected date of arrival and port of entry /

landing in Pakistan; at least seven (7) days before the expected date of arrival of the animals and must adhere to the schedule of importation issued by the

respective quarantine officer. 7.3 The Director General (Extension) Livestock & Dairy Development Department,

Punjab province, Pakistan reserves the right to impose additional conditions or to stop further import of live sheep / goats from India, as and when deemed required without prior notice.

8. FEES

The following fees is payable for each consignment imported into Punjab province,

Pakistan: i. Import License: Pak Rs. 200 per Head

ii. Quarantine fee: Pak Rs. 100 per Head / day iii. Quarantine Certificate: Pak Rs. 200 per Head
