    Health Benefits of Rice Bran

More than 180 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes. Over a million people a year

    will die from it.

US Patent # 6,303,586 B1 2001 was issued for stabilized rice bran as a Supportive Therapy

or Diabetes, Hyperglycemia, and Hypoglycemia and US Patent #6,350,473 B1. 2002 was

issued for stabilized rice branas a Method For Controlling Serum Glucose because it was

shown to reduce blood glucose levels, glycosylated hemoglobin levels and improves insulin

synthesis in Type I and Type II diabetic subjects. Taking 2 daily doses of stabilized rice bran

for 8 weeks was shown to reduce fasting serum glucose by 10-33%. Other studies confirmed

that stabilized rice bran positively controls and manages blood glucose levels in diabetes

    mellitus.

B Complex Vitamins, Gamma Oryzanol, Protein, Complex Carbohydrates, Chromium,

Polysaccharides, Hemicelluloses, Fat, Fiber, Tocopherols, Tocotrienols and Antioxidants are

all found in stabilized rice bran and are known to play a significantly positive role in glucose

    metabolism.

This is not only good news for diabetics, but for anyone struggling with Hypoglycemia,

Hyperglycemia, Insulin Resistance or Syndrome X. Many people report that consuming

stabilized rice bran reduces sugar cravings, and the mood swings that come from raising andlowering blood sugar through dietary habits.

Lower Cholesterol & Prevent Heart Disease

Hundreds of millions of people have high cholesterol, increasing their risk of developing

cardiovascular diseases such as Arteriosclerosis, Atherosclerosis, Stroke, and Heart Attack.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the U.S., Australia, India and Malaysia and

it is rapidly increasing throughout Asia. More than 17 million people die each year from

cardiovascular disease. People with fat around their waists have the greatest risk.

Lowering your cholesterol can lower your chances of dying from heart disease and stroke,

but the cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins) that doctors prescribe can have dangerous side

effects. A safer, more natural way to lower cholesterol is to modify your diet with products

like stabilized rice bran. Studies have shown that fiber, fatty acids and nutrients in stabilized

rice bran are effective at lowering serum cholesterol and triglycerides.

    3 US patents (#6,126,943, #6,558,714 B2, & #6,733,799 B2) have been awarded for

stabilized rice bran as an effective "Method for Treating Hypercholesterolemia,

    Hyperlipidemia, and Atherosclerosis."

Several of the nutrients found in stabilized rice bran, such as Fiber,, Carotenoids,

Phytosterols, Omega 3 and Inositol Hexaphosphate (IP6), are known to play an important

role in anti-platelet aggregating, and lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels. These and

other synergistic mechanisms have been shown to: lower LDL and increase HDL; decreasefat and cholesterol absorption; increase excretion of fat, cholesterol and bile acids; reduce

blood pressure; reduce triglycerides; inhibit platelet aggregation; inhibit formation of aortic

streaks; increase competitive binding by plant sterols; inhibit HMG CoA reductase; and

inhibit phopholipase A2, thromboxane B4 and prostacyclin production. CoQ10 has been

shown to have positive effects on both blood pressure and cholesterol and to improve energy

in the heart muscles. It also helps to stabilize palpitations.

All of these functions work together to reduce your chances of becoming a stroke or heart

    attack victim.

Boost Immunity to Prevent Degenerative Disease & Premature Aging

Abnormal cells, bacteria, and viruses proliferate in our bodies all the time, but normally the

immune system annihilates them before they have a chance to develop into illness, disease or

    cancer.

The immune system is a complex network coordinating the activities that protect us from

harmful microbial invaders (bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites) and stop abnormal cell

proliferation. This system protects us from all types of illness and disease. But it can be

weakened by nutritional deficiencies, prolonged illness and inflammation, and by the

carcinogens, dangerous metals, poisons, toxins and stress we are exposed to every day.

When a person has a weakened immune system, even a simple cold or flu can escalate and

become a life-threatening illness. Having a strong immune system is the best defense against

illness and disease. Nutritionally strengthening and supporting the immune system is

essential, especially after the age of 50 because the bodys natural defenses decline with age.

Sterols and Sterolins (found in plants) are great immune supporters. They help the immune

system stop cancer, kill bacteria, destroy viruses and slow down the aging process. They have

also been shown to keep patients infected with the HIV virus from developing AIDS.

Stabilized rice bran has high concentrations of Sterolins and Phytosterols that have

demonstrated potent antiviral and antibacterial effects.

Stabilized rice bran also contains the following immune system helpers:

Polysaccharides (known to improve immune function)

Gamma Oryzanol and other phytonutrients that increase immune response and reduce pro-

    inflammatory cytokines

Omegas 3, 6 & 9 fatty acids and Tocopherols & Tocotrienols that have been shown to

    suppress auto anti-DNA antibodies

CoQ10 which is a known immune booster routinely recommended as part of the treatment

for people suffering from: Cardiovascular Disease, Parkinson's Disease, Muscular Dystrophy,

Cancer, Diabetes Mellitus, Infertility, AIDS, Asthma, Thyroid Disorders, and Periodontal

    Disease

Alpha Lipoic Acid which is extremely effective against oxidative stress and free radical

    destruction.

    Lower Cancer Risk

Cancer is now the leading cause of death globally. It is estimated that cancer will kill 84

million people in the next ten years. While the causes of cancer are complex, it is well known

that certain things can lower the risk of getting it. The most important recommendations are

to avoid toxins and eat healthy foods. Stabilized rice bran has many nutrients that are known

    to help protect against cancer.

Studies have shown that Sterol/Sterolins and Omegas 3, 6 & 9 can increase natural killer

(NK) cell activity and act as a potent immunomodulator for the treatment and restoration of

    immune dysfunction.

Gamma Oryzanol (Ferulic acid) is known to be anti-mutagenic. Inositol, IP6, Polyphenols,

Fiber, Tocotrienols and Antioxidants are all known to be anti-carcinogenic. Polyphenols and

Tocotrienols have been shown to inhibit Phase 1 microsomal enzymes, and the lipoprotein

fraction of stabilized rice bran has been shown to inhibit abnormal cell proliferation.

Numerous epidemiologic studies reported an association between high fiber intake and

reduced incidence of colon cancer and breast cancer. A 1992 study by researchers at Harvard

Medical School found that men who consumed only 12 grams of fiber a day were twice aslikely to develop precancerous colon changes as men whose daily fiber intake was about 30

grams. Scientists theorize that insoluble fiber adds bulk to stool, which in turn dilutes

carcinogens and speeds their transit through the lower intestines and out of the body. 12

studies found a link between high fiber intake and reduced risk of breast cancer. In the early

stages, some breast tumors are stimulated by estrogen circulating in the bloodstream.

Scientists believe that fiber may hamper the growth of these tumors by binding with estrogen

in the intestine, preventing it from being reabsorbed into the bloodstream.

IP6 has been shown to exhibit significant anti-cancer activity and to inhibit tumor cell growth

in colon, intestinal, and liver cancers. Carotenoids (including the Alpha Carotene, Beta

Carotene, Lutein, Lycopene, Zeaxanthin and Precryptoxanthin/Cryptoxanthin found in

stabilized rice bran) offer powerful protection against many different types of cancer.

Lycopene in particular has been associated with lower rates of prostate cancer.

Pangamic Acid (B15) has shown to have a unique ability to release a type of cyanide only at

cancer sites, thereby destroying cancer cells while at the same time, nourishing non-

    cancerous tissue.

Free radical damage accumulates and increases with age. It has been implicated as a

causal factor in almost every health disorder and disease including: Acne, Alzheimers,

rthritis, Cancer, Chronic Inflammation, Heart Disease, Infertility, Parkinsons,

    Premature Aging, and Stroke.

Stabilized rice bran contains over 120 antioxidants cofactors and catalysts

that can protect your cells from being damaged by free radicals. Antioxidants are like cellular

bodyguards. They take the bullet when a cell is attacked so cellular damage is avoided.

Vitamins C and E are well known defenders, but scientists have discovered even more potent

antioxidants such as CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPCs),

SOD, Tocopherols & Tocotrienols (TOCOLS), IP6, Glutathione, Carotenoids, Selenium,

Phytosterols, Gamma Oryzanol, Lutein and Lycopene. Stabilized rice bran contains all ofthese and more!

    ntioxidants act as cellular bodyguards

Antioxidants can work independently, but they work better in teams. Having a broader

spectrum offers more complete protection because each antioxidant works differently and

oint effort creates synergy. Some antioxidants even resuscitate one another when they get

wiped out by free radicals. Stabilized rice bran contains all of these synergistic battle

buddies. According to antioxidant expert, Dr. Lester Packer, literally thousands of studieshave confirmed that antioxidants can help prevent numerous diseases and will not only

enhance life, but in all probability extend life. The research on antioxidants has actually

yielded mixed results. If free radicals run amok, the result can be devastation and disease, but

if all free radicals are wiped out, the immune system cant use their destructive force to wipe

out foreign invaders. There needs to be an intelligent balance.

Since we dont fully understand how antioxidants and free radicals dance together, the best

solution, according to Barry Halliwell and other scientists, is to stick with eating healthy

foods that contain a broad spectrum of naturally occurring antioxidants and their cofactors

because the body knows exactly what to do with them and how to discard them.

Stabilized rice bran was recently found to have the highest ORAC value (Oxygen Radical

Absorbency Capacity) when compared to 28 other well known high antioxidant fruits, nuts

and vegetables. It was also shown to have the highest lipophilic to total ORAC value (evenhigher than avocado!). This is biologically significant because fat-soluble antioxidants (with a

high lipophilic score) can stay in the body longer than water-soluble antioxidants and can

    penetrate cell membranes more easily.

Stabilized rice bran has an impressive spectrum of both fat-soluble and water-soluble

antioxidants so it protects your cells inside and out. All of its antioxidants come with their

synergistic cofactors and catalysts, so it offers superior defense against cancer and other

degenerative diseases. One of the most powerful antioxidants in stabilized rice bran is Alpha

Lipoic Acid which is both water and fat soluble. It can penetrate and protect every cell of the

body and it naturally boosts the bodys production of Glutathione a major cellular

antioxidant. Studies have shown that Alpha Lipoic Acid definitely protects red blood cells

and fatty acids from oxidative damage and protects cells from UVA damage.

    Improve Gastrointestinal Health

Some people say you are what you eat. But everything you eat doesnt get digested,

assimilated and utilized. You are what your cells can absorb! Intestinal health helps to ensure

that the nutrition you consume actually has a chance to do its job in your body. If your colonis blocked, your pH balance is off, and your intestines are overrun by harmful bacteria,

nutrients cant get where they need to go.

Fiber is one of your digestive systems best allies. Numerous studies have found that diets

high in fiber and low in saturated fat are associated with a reduced risk of certain cancers,

diabetes, digestive disorders, and heart disease.

Doctors and scientists recommend an increase in fiber for disease prevention and treatment of

the following: Heart Disease, Constipation; Cancer (especially of the colon), Hemorrhoids,Diverticulitis, Hernia, Varicose Veins, Obesity, Diabetes, and Hyperlipidemia. But experts

say that most adults only get about half the fiber they need to prevent type II diabetes, heart

    disease and other problems.

The suggested minimum intake of fiber is about 14 grams for every 1000 calories consumed.

Men need 30-38 grams per day and women need 25-30 grams per day preferably from

whole foods. Most children today are only getting about 20% of the fiber they need each day.

That, along with poor diet, helps to explain why there is an epidemic of children developing

type II diabetes before they reach their teens.

There are two important types of consumable fiber. Soluble fiberforms a gel in the digestive

tract and slows down the digestion of carbohydrates so that sugar is released and absorbed

more slowly into the bloodstream. This is the type of fiber responsible for lowering

cholesterol and regulating blood sugar.Insoluble fiberpasses through the intestines intact. It

attracts and absorbs water which can speed up bulk and promote regular bowel movements. It

also helps to remove toxic wastes and maintain optimum the pH needed to maximize

digestive function and help prevent colon cancer.

Stabilized rice bran naturally contains both soluble and insoluble fibers. It can help to

maintain overall health and keep bowel movements regular. It can offer welcomed relief

and health support to people suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Irritable

Bowel Disease (IBD) and has been shown to naturally improve gut micro flora and to reduce

    colonic adenomas by 51%.

    Lose Weight-Burn Fat

Obesity, which is strongly associated with higher health risk and increased death rate, is

rising in every age group in every country and is considered by the World Health

Organization to be a dangerous global epidemic putting tens of millions of people at risk.

One of the reasons bodies hold onto fat is because of the starvation instinct. If you arent

getting complete nutrition, your body thinks it is starving and increases your appetite while

holding onto your fat. Stabilized rice bran gives you a wide spectrum of nutrition that canhelp calm this instinct. Stabilized rice bran also helps with weight management through

mechanisms that regulate blood sugar, detoxify the colon and metabolize fat.

Gamma Oryzanol has been shown to have a positive effect on blood lipids by burning fat,

mobilizing stored fat and increasing lean body mass. Alpha Lipoic Acid is called the

Metabolic Antioxidant because of its ability to assist in the metabolizing carbohydrates and

fat. It is thought to decrease fat storage and aid fat loss through the natural elevation of

glutathione levels and the mediation of insulin and leptin (a hormone that helps regulate body

weight and fat deposition). Stabilized rice bran is also rich in natural magnesium which has

been shown to protect against metabolic syndrome, and improve metabolism.

    Detoxify

Environmental pollution has reached alarmingly epidemic proportions. The environment is

thoroughly contaminated by dangerous chemicals and heavy metals.Billions of pounds of

toxic chemicals are dumped into our air and water every year. Because the earth is a closed

ecosystem, the worst effects can occur thousands of miles away from the source.

Toxic particles can work their way into our bodies through food, air, and skin. When you eat,

you ingest toxins from pesticides, artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. When you

  • 8/2/2019 Health Benefits of Rice Bran Oil

    7/12

breathe, you ingest toxins from pollution. When you touch things, chemical residue enters

your pores. All of these can contribute to respiratory damage, heart disease and cancer. Most

homes are toxic because clothing, cookware, carpets, furniture and fabrics are routinely

coated with dangerous chemicals. Cleaning products, construction materials, dental fillings

and medical vaccinations all contribute to toxic overload.

Poisons and heavy metals in the environment dont necessarily pose an immediate threat

(unless youre super-sensitive or heavily exposed). The hidden danger comes

fromaccumulation. Its not one particular chemical or metal you need to worry about; its

being constantly exposed to a myriad of toxins that can build up in the body. When this

happens, your natural disposal systems become overloaded, your organs become affected,

and your immune system can get overwhelmed.

Since its virtually impossible to avoid toxins in todays modern world, its critical that we do

everything we can to quickly remove them from our bodies and minimize the damage they

    can do.

Stabilized rice bran can help in two ways. First of all, the high fiber content helps to remove

toxins through safe and speedy elimination. It also scrubs the intestinal walls to get rid of

putrefying waste that can block nutrient absorption and poison your system. Secondly, the

potent antioxidants and nutraceuticals found in stabilized rice bran help to combat the

damaging free radicals that toxins produce. Some of stabilized rice brans components are

    known to be particularly detoxifying.

Research has shown that Alpha Lipoic Acid is good for cleansing the liver of chemical

poisons. German Physicians have been using Alpha Lipoic Acid since the 1960s to treat

Diabetic Polyneuropathy and Liver Cirrhosis. The treatment was later extended to heavy

metal intoxication, toxic mushroom poisoning and oxygen related diseases. Alpha Lipoic

Acid is believed to be a good metal chelator because of its easy absorption into the

intracellular environment and its ability to complex metals that were previously bound to

other sulfhydryl proteins. It is known to chelate (bind and remove) mercury, cadmium, andlead. Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous and Inositol Hexaphosphate (IP6) are also known to

    act as heavy metal chelators.

    Improve Liver Function

Besides being a general body detoxifier (which eases the burden on the liver) stabilized rice

bran has nutrients that are specifically helpful to liver function. Inositols, Phosholipids & B

Complex Vitamins are known to detoxify the liver, control liver cirrhosis and improve liver

cell regeneration. Tocotrienols, Gamma Oryzanol, and other antioxidants also play a

    protective role in the liver.

    Increase Energy

One of the most common effects people report after taking stabilized rice bran for a few days

or weeks, is increased energy. This is most likely due to its nutrient density and the presence

of energy boosting phytonutrients like CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and B vitamins includingPangamic Acid.

CoQ10 is a compound found naturally in virtually every cell of the human body, but supplies

dwindle as we age. It is a vital for energy metabolism and electron transport in the

mitochondria and it serves as an effective intercellular antioxidant. CoQ10 improves energy

in the heart muscles, It provides the body with the energy it needs to rebuild and repair,

remove cellular waste and toxins, and defend itself from infections.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is also crucial for energy production in the cells. It is routinely used byathletes to increase energy and improve glycogen storage in the muscles. Pangamic Acid

(B15) has been found to increase oxygen in the cells and is used to increase the endurance,

stamina and speed of Russian athletes.

Reduce Headaches & Improve Mental Function

Stabilized rice bran has a myriad of nutrients that can help to keep you pain free and

performing at your best even under stress.CoQ10 has been shown to reduce migraine

headaches by 50%, reduce fatigue, and alleviate mental tiredness. Alpha Lipoic Acid

strengthens memory and helps prevent brain aging. The B vitamin family is known to reduce

mental fatigue, calm the nervous system, and alleviate stress. Potassium helps mental

function by sending oxygen to the brain. Phosphatidylserine has been shown to improve

memory, concentration and focus. Detoxification helps with every aspect of health. When

you get rid of toxins, everything works better including mental function. Stabilized rice

bran offers a perfect combination of detoxifying agents and brain boosters.

    Reduce Symptoms of Menopause

Gamma Oryzanol has been shown to reduce the occurrence of hot flashes, night sweats and

other climacteric complaints of menopause by 85%! Tocotrienols, CoQ10, Omegas 3 & 6,

and Phytosterols all help to ease menopausal symptoms.

    Decrease Kidney Stones

Kidney stones are one of the most common disorders of the urinary tract. They develop when

crystals build up in the urine. Large stones can block urine flow and cause extreme pain!

The most common kidney stones are made mostly of calcium, but the problem is not thought

to be caused by calcium in the diet. In fact, two studies at Harvard University found that a

diet high in calcium-rich foods actually loweredthe risk of developing kidney stones in both

men and women. Scientists now know that the problem isnt having calcium in the body, its

having calcium that makes stones instead of bones! Vitamin K has been shown to play an

important role in making sure that the calcium in your body does more good than harm. It

moves calcium out of the bloodstream and gets it into your bones. Inositol Hexaphosphate

(IP6) has been shown to inhibit urinary calcium oxalate crystallization.

Build Bones & Reduce Osteoporosis Risk

Stabilized rice bran contains naturally occurring calcium, magnesium and other trace

minerals that are essential for building strong bones.

    Improve Eyesight

Stabilized rice bran contains both Lutein and Zeaxanthin which have been associated with

improved vision and a decreased risk of macular degeneration and cataracts. Some studies

have also shown that in some cases, Lutein has even helped reverse the damage caused by the

macular degeneration. Essential fatty acids Omegas 3, 6, & 9 and Folic Acid are also known

    to promote eye health.

    Enhance Natural Beauty

The most beautiful bodies radiate from within. You literally ARE what you eat! If you

want eyes that sparkle and youthful glowing skin, the best beauty enhancer is good water and

good nutrition! Stabilized rice bran contains a full spectrum of beauty enhancing nutrients

including CoQ10, E vitamins, and B vitamins including Biotin, which are well known for

creating beauty from within. It also contains GABA (Gamma Amino Butyric Acid) and

Squalene which are also essential for shining skin and healthy hair growth. The high

antioxidant profile and rich nutrient density of stabilized rice bran make it a great food for

daily detoxification. When toxins are eliminated, your skin stays clear and vibrant rather than

    clogged, pimply, or dull.
